Agree with everyone you have going out, coming in not so much. Lysell is no where near ready, in fact i would look to move him for a similar young center prospect, Lohrei hasn't played 10 AHL games yet, let's wait to see what is there first before bringing him up, McLaughlin can fill a bottom line roll but I would prefer somebody more physical as they were once again outmuscled by a team in the playoffs.

If Bergeron comes he should become second line center with Marchand, replace Coyle with Sean Monahan short term or a young center you get for Ullmark, Acciari would be a solid UFA addition for a fourth line of Lauko-Frederic-Acciari, Bertuzzi-Monahan-Bjugstad, Marchand-Bergeron-DeBrusk, Hall-Zacha-Pastrnak.

Filling the spots for Grizz and Forbort becomes problematic, you can buy out Reilly to get another 1.75 or so in cap space, if you are looking at UFA's (the Bruins not having many picks limits them for even trying for a RFA), Carson Soucy and Scott Mayfield could take Grizz's spot in the top 4, Gudas or Schenn on the bottom pair with Kyle Burroughs as depth.
This is really well thought out. As much as I hate sloth-like defensemen, maybe it's time to ice some guys the opponent won't want to hit.

The only huge problem is that while Monahan could turn out to be a gigantic boon, especially considering you can pay him bonus money, it's highly likely he'll be severely injured by game 40, if not sooner. And there's nobody behind him to take that spot. Same injury concerns probably apply to Bjugstad as well.

Wait ? We are getting rid of CC for Monahan ?

Coyle has a per TOI Is up there in Take Aways , blocked shots, puck possession - one of lowest GA in PK TOI and a 52% FO all done well the Bruins usually had the puck (often him)

Come on guys lol

Actually a drunk Bruins fan when pressed said the reason they hate Coyle is he has perfect hair

It’s really the only thing I’ve agreed with here

He's just about the perfect 3C (except for game 7 last year, holy Jesus).

His contract and the team's cap are the problem.

Easily solved with Bergeron being 38 next season and likely getting games off

Coyle becomes an underpaid first line center for 15 or so games

Those 2 games he played in Florida he was very good centering the top line in a playoff game is a bargain at $5.2 M

Coyle was outstanding. Definitely upped his trade value

I don't think anyone's safe outside of Pasta and McAvoy. Bruins are in Cap hell and they just got upset in the first round of the playoffs after having a record breaking regular season. Changes are a coming.
Definitely but Coyle probably isn't even on the back burner of the range unless Donny gets an offer he can't refuse. If they lose 37/46, Coyle is a must keep.

I think Bergy will be back, but ya if both him and Kreech leave it would be tough to move Coyle unless another Center is coming back as part of a deal for Coyle or in another deal, but Donny is in a pickle here. He needs to move salary and teams know this. I basically think it comes down to who he gets the greatest return for. Frederic is more than ready to slot into that 3rd line center role imo if Coyle gets moved. Not saying Coyle is getting moved or advocating it but he's far from untouchable and his stock may never be this high again. There's going to be changes and like I said I dont feel anyones safe outside of Pasta and McAvoy.

I wouldn’t be shocked if a GM dangled a low-hanging carrot for Coyle, knowing the Bruins situation. Just to tempt Don.

I’m all set with both 37 and 46 coming back. This year was it. They need speed and grit which neither has. Yes 37 is tough but tough at getting hit and hurt. His body is ready. Thanks to both of them.

Coyle goes no where. Cmon…..

In the right situation he very well could be. Puck possession monster/Strong as an ox and has a great shot, only if he used it more. lol

Realistically though he's a two at best who can play up or down when needed.

Coyle's a strange animal. A #2.5C?
He’s a hybrid a ‘thirst’

He’s an overpaid third line center and underpaid first line center

Aside - Amalie Benjamin on NHL Network- so underrated

Folks I hate you to wreck the Scott Mayfield lovefest but he sucks and by December we would be denying we wanted him and trashing Donny

Heysoos! Does this guy ever look at his results and say, "Hey, wait a minute. These teammates are all clumping. Do they all suck or might there be another reason for this?"

Started to wonder if Charlie Coyle is, strangely, the most overrated Bruin of my life but then remembered Brandon Carlo is literally on the same team.

This might sound like an anti Charlie Coyle rant, but it's not. He is a good player who disappears for big chunks of time. He can play up in a pinch and can even look good doing it at times, but he can also bring nothing to the table in a much easier role.

He's a third line center with both a nice ceiling and a low floor who is way too inconsistent. He does a lot of things well but nothing great. But he's paid like he is more than that and talked about like the 2019 playoff run is how he always plays.

No we are moving Coyle to free cap space and add a pick, Monahan should come relatively cheap.

The injury concerns for both are very real, much more so with Monahan. I would love to add a Clifton with better hockey sense, a good to very good skater, average size who is physical. I really can't take another year of the D turning to dust later in a series, big and physical doesn't wear down as easy as passive and smaller.

If they want to stay competitive they need to take some risks that hopefully pay off.

Advanced stats may say he sucks but I have always seen a big, physical defenseman that hits, takes few non matching penalties and steps up in the playoffs. Take that over an analytics darling anyday.

He’s going to be an underpaid first line center
Don't get very far with 40 point first line centers.
