When tavares gets bullied and plays boring so do the leafs.. Tavares you are down 5-0 and a. Tampa scrub is rubbing his glove in your face, isn't that a time to fight back and get the team going? But instead he skates away embarrassed. Such a boring and disengaged player

I'd imagine he's the most uninspiring captain most of these guys have played under.

I really wanted us to take hold of this series yesterday, but ultimately we got the job done by getting the split. We got home ice back which is big. Full marks to TB, they are not going to go down without a fight. We really are going to have to earn every win this series.

It sucks to have basically had zero chance at winning that game after 8 mins of game time but at the end of the day a loss is a loss no matter how it shakes up.

We absolutely need to win tmw, because TB really does look like a team that refuses to lose B2B games. Truly remarkable resilience from them TBH.

We all knew this was coming down to Game 7 in Toronto on Saturday night anyways.
Those Leaf fans that applied objectivity to their expectations certainly would have believed this was going to be a long series and go at least 6 if not 7 games.

Its how the games have been played that is the most surprising, as 2 competitive teams are not playing competitive games within the series, but rather simply taking turns alternating on who shows up.

Those stats settle it

My spreadsheet says we need to roll him out 30 mins a game.

You know dubas is seeing that shit and saying the same thing. Boosh has been one of the few actually playing f***ing hockey in every game this series as well

Im in disbelief seeing the nylander footage going viral.

What don't people understand he was at the end of his shift. Most players don't even skate back as much as he did being gassed they'd have curled off well before

People don't want stupid players like kase on the team who only know how to get injured but also want nylander to get crushed for no reason

The biggest issue isn't that he was gassed. It's that he stopped skating so he wouldn't get hit

you have no idea what you're talking about. He was hunched over out of breath going back to the bench literally 1 second after. He shouldn't have even followed that puck he should have changed as soon as it crossed the blue line.

At least fake the effort
Fake it so he can get rocked into the boards? Your favorite depth players would have curled off at the blue line to the bench and the play doesn't even get noticed or spoken about. The couple extra meters he did skate served the purpose of not letting the Tampa D casually go for the puck and take 5 seconds to setup. On top of that you want him to go into the boards with zero energy and get popped.

You're better than that.

Tampa is toying with us. When they need a win, they turn it up and dominate us. Will be interesting to see how much they want game 5 because they probably feel no way they lose game 6 in Tampa IMO. As such it would be all the marbles for game 7 and we/they know how the Leafs do in game 7s.

Yea, he was tired and decided to look back and try to get the steal (which he almost did).

You have to remember you are sitting in a thread that almost has as many pages as game one when the Leafs handed the two-time champs their worst playoff loss in 25+ years.

All this stuff looks like white noise to me after so many years. The worst defensive forward on either team has probably been Kucherov IMO.

Tampa has had similar efforts in game 1, and the first half of game 3, the Leafs have been a resilient bunch all year, let’s see if they can get over the hump finally (I wouldn’t put money on it, but I do think they have the personnel this year to pull this off)

I figured as much. Got one dude who suddenly thinks he's an expert on the play but he doesn't even know Nylander was at the end of a shift. Thinks the tank was loaded with energy. Can't make this stuff up.

I am totally OK with that clip going viral for a couple reasons.

1. It was just not good enough. I will give Willy a pass for it being the end of a shift and a 5-0 game at the time, but it's still a very tough look.

2. Willy responds well to this type of criticism. When that bozo Simmons wrote his "ikea" article last year, Willy ended up turning his season around big time.

This might just be the wakeup call Willy needs, because that effort is unacceptable regardless of situation.

Like I said any other player curls off at the blue line it's not even a story. It's just a player going off for a change. Nylander decides to skate a couple extra meters and suddenly it means he has to go full Gary Roberts into the boards otherwise he's soft. Exaggerating on the Gary Roberts but the point stands

Yeah, it would be nice if they could try in every game though. It's not unreasonable to ask they give a f*** and not mail it in.
I thought they came out flat and after the first 10-15 mins were actually the better team the rest of the way. Probably because Tampa started to coast a bit and this is the oddest playoffs ever with the amount of penalties called.

Besides the first 10 mins the only thing I hated was pulling the goalie with 6 mins left.
