Most underrated player in the NHL?

I feel like a lot of the best players in Central division never get shine (outside the Avs)

Robert Thomas
Filip Forsberg
Roman Josi
Clayton Keller
Mark Scheifele
Josh Morrissey
Jason Robertson
Miro Heiskanen
Kirill Kaprizov

Kaprizov and Josi do, and really the only ones on par with the Colorado guys, maybe Miro too

Zach Benson.

I saw someone say just today that he shouldn’t be in the NHL at 18. I think that people have no concept of how he plays this game and how much better he is away from the puck and how responsible he is defensively. Not for an 18 year old. Period. Yeah the production takes a while to come. But there are a lot of reasons he whas been relied on while waiting for it. He goes to the hard areas, he reads plays and finds open ice, he defends better than pretty much any forward on the team. Consistently. The holes rookies have that gets them benched? Those are his strengths. He wasn’t going to learn the pro game in juniors. He’d have scored a ton in ways that have nothing to do with learning to score in the NHL. He only belongs in the NHL.

He’s not a token rookie gifted a spot. He is the real deal.

Rempe. Seems to have all the makings of being a future 2016 All Star. :)

I recently saw a tweet explaining that Aleksander Barkov was still underrated because Huberdeau, Duclair, Tkachuk, Verhaeghe, etc. had all had career years playing with him. This was funny to me, because all of these guys had career years being centered by Sam Bennett.

So that's my nominee for the most underrated player on the Panthers. Guy's a force of nature.
Bennet for sure.
But Barlov makes my list of under rated players

Trent Frederic. Maybe not the 'most' underrated in the NHL, but he's becoming one of the best power forwards in the league. Plays mostly on the 3rd line, almost no PP time, and yet should end up with a 20-20 season. His even strength production is one of the reasons Boston has continued to be so dangerous this year.
Great call

For the Rangers, I would nominate Vince Trocheck. He's been a low-end first line center since forever now.

Also, I always find myself surprised by the amount of goals Adrian Kempe has. There's no hype about it and then I see it and I'm like "wow, he's had a good season."

Kempe is a good choice but Byfield would be my suggestion on the Kings. Averages 16 minutes but leads the team in +/-. Sometimes this stat gets mocked and its fair most of the time, but in his case it does seem to be indicative of how he plays. Whenever i watch the Kings, he's super competitive and affects the game even when not on the stat sheet.

He may not be the most underrated player in the league but deserves honorable mention.

Thumbs up for Trocheck...a few of the Rangers games I've watched this season felt he was their best player.

We know about his faceoff prowess but holy hell he has 504 career pts in 703 game to date, he puts up pretty good numbers. Maybe not an elite centerman as you said but I'm guessing 31 other teams would gladly make room for him.

Watching his development has been a journey for sure. Going from a green guy terminally overrated by Bruins fans because he chirped PK Subban one time, to him trying to be the resident fighter on the team (and being a 2nd tier fighter at best) while simultaneously being a plug on the ice, to rounding out his game (I see a lot of Charlie Coyle molded into him) while having consistency issues, all the way until last year - this year where he's finally put it all together. Good defensively, great use of his body, finally scoring some goals. He's had some disappearing acts in his playoff showings so I'm hoping he can finally step up when it's showtime.

Doesn’t really belong in the conversation about most underrated. He has 57 pro games under his belt playing for a small market team. People aren’t overlooking him. Most people simply have never heard of him.

I think NHL fans are starting to recognize how awesome he is, but Selke voters need to get even more on board than they have been. This guy should be viewed as Koivu level at defense, if not Kesler. Now that Bergeron is gone, some of these 2nd tier guys can win again.

If I had to pick a guy who is underrated for the Wild, I think I'd have to go with Ryan Hartman. Everyone thinks of him as a pest who crosses the line into dirty, but he's actually really good outside of the physical play, too. Good positionally, good skater, decent playmaking, great shot. Smart, too, when his emotions aren't overriding his logic.

Haven't paid too much attention to him last 2 years but Brandon Tanev has always been underrated to me. Love his game despite not being the most skilled player. I dunno how effective he's been the past 2 years though. I've only seen about 12 games or so but he is always a buzzsaw whenever I watch him.
