The team is certainly missing something when Chytil is out.

I know this is an excuse that gets thrown around but he's one guy whose numbers would jump out a bit more if he played more.

For me on the Canes it's Jordan Staal. On the one hand he's super well known. But he's possibly/probably the best defensive forward in the NHL. He regularly plays with 4th line grinders and has gaudy defensive numbers. It's like in football how you have a run offense which gains 3 yards every down and wears down the opponent's defense.
As a neutral fan I agree. He is such a good player, always impacts a game in any role.

Ducks have a handful of guys who are properly rated high, and the rest are not great. The only one I can think of that falls in between is John Gibson so far. Frank V probably qualifies too

As guffman mentioned, Scheifele for the jets.

Since signing his new deal, he's given 100% in all 3 zones game in game out and on pace for 100+ points.

Tough to choose between Michael Mcleod and Curtis Lazar but id say Lazar.

He's a meat and potato's 4th line guy that will do anything to help his team win. He's already tied his points from last season with the Canucks in 30 less games and has stood up for his teammates and blocked shots. Every team wants a guy like him and I'm glad he's with the Devils.
Both are good choices. I'll go with Haula.

For Tampa it’s probably Mike Eyssimont. High intensity player, he’s just flying out there with a motor that just won’t quit.

Maybe he’s the Yanni Gourde replacement we’ve all been dreaming of.

Love his game but he’s nowhere near the scorer Gourde was. He’s very similar in most of the other things he does on the ice, however.

Matthieu Joseph in Ottawa. Supposedly Briere wanted a first for Ottawa to dump the contract prior to Pinto’s suspension. Finally being fully recovered from an injury that bothered him last season, Joseph has become a 2-way beast for the Senators who can play up and down the line up. I don’t think his name pops up in opposing fans as a valuable contributor.

Glad he’s been doing well but the guy’s almost 27 and has scored more points than his current age precisely once in his NHL career. Sure he’s off to a fantastic start, but let’s see if he can maintain it for more than 15 games before we start considering him a “beast”.

I have a feeling most Nashville fans would come in here to say Colton Sissons, but I think it's probably Alexandre Carrier. Right handed d-man who logs 20 minutes per night in every situation. Can't understate how valuable he is defensively for this team, especially at only $2.5m
I came here to say Sissons. Tbh, I find Carrier very overrated. He is very weak in his own zone, he hardly ever plays his man, but he does stand in lanes and get hit by pucks fairly well, and is alright on retrievals. Fabbro is better than Carrier and is probably a more fitting choice as "underrated" if we were looking past Sissons.

Jack McBain in Arizona. This guy is a truck. He hits. He fights. He scores. Plays the PK. Tough to handle for defensemen when he plants himself in front of the net. The Coyotes are missing him while he is out with an apparent knee injury after falling awkwardly into the boards.

And a more under the radar one is Michael Carcone. His scoring in the AHL is apparently transferring to the NHL.

Lindgren. When he’s out, we have one of the worst defenses in the league.

I’m not saying Fox is a product of him, but we don’t struggle that much when Fox is missing, yet almost always do when Lindgren is missing.
