It’s not like he was playing good hockey he’s been injured the whole season...

Some said they preferred 70% Rielly over 100% Sandin after Sandin returned from the WJC. Well, clearly 100% Sandin > 0% Rielly. What I would like to know is how Lily stacks up against Barrie.

No, we need Dion to provide a physical presence :sarcasm:.

Heck, at this point I might ditch the sarcasm. We're almost at the point where we could legit use Phaneuf.

Anyone out there on the scrap heap that could log 20 minutes for us? We're officially desperate.

Get well soon, Morgan. For your sake, and ours.

I would imagine 100% better than Barrie lol he’s been a disaster.

They can't play defense and the goalies have been sieves, not sure what's changed.

Rielly or no Rielly they still need 4 goals a game minimum to have a chance to win.

Rielly is out has changed. As bad as he has been, it will have an impact.

Sorry to hear the news. Looking at schedule and standings, it would seem the only teams in the way of the Leafs staying in the playoff mix are FLA, PHI and CBJ. I'm thinking you guys remain ahead of 2 of those teams even with Reilly out, since PHI and CBJ are in the Metro and will play each other a few times more as well. Now, if any or all of them make any moves... it could get interesting.

Muzzin was a month prior to the TDL and he clearly was not enough. How much talk was their that they needed some depth on D before the TDL and he brought in Petan ?? It all fell apart when Gards and Dermott went down while Rosen was already out with a broken foot.
If anything, Dubas deserves credit for addressing the defense a month sooner than the deadline. Not completely disregard it as a defensive upgrade. Weren't you just complaining about him being too patient, and now you're holding the Muzzin trade against him because it was proactive?

No I liked the Muzzin deal. I just wanted another RHD man around the TDL.

I would tend to agree. See what you can get for Barrie, could be picks and a prospect or 2.

Miss the playoffs or lose in round #1 and lose Barrie for nothing will sting. If Lily is close to Barrie, you can't let him walk for nothing.

Mikheyev, Muzzin, and Rielly are the only significant injuries we have right now. Moore is replacement level player. We should still make the playoffs. Once there, with a hopefully healthy Rielly, we can do major damage. I don’t get why the sky is falling with most of you. Every team deals with some injuries.

A lot of blame for this situation lies in management.

Thin back line . No depth. Or little depth. Winning is built from the net out IMO.

good luck the rest of the year with that D.

andy thought our D was weak before. Good luck.

How many cups does Nashville have? arguably had one of the best goalies and defenses in the league for years.

In my opinion, the leafs just need to start playing some god dam team Defense.

On paper, our defense is the best it has ever been. Look at the islanders. theyve given up 55 less goals then us. 55! Your telling me Leddy, Pulock, Toes, Mayfield, Dobson and Boychuk are better than Rielly, Barrie, Dermot, Muzzin, Ceci and Marincin? No friggen way, not in my opinion.

Yes our defensemen have suspect defensive play, all you have to look at is Barrie playing a 2 on 1. But the leafs give up so many odd man rushes its ridiculous. and yes, the leafs out chance basically every team they play. That doesnt mean anything when your handing the opposition goals.

Probably want to see a trade, but now is the time for the kids to shine. Get Sandin and Liljegren up here and lets see if they're ready.

This will probably force our hand in moving one of our wingers. Kappy or Johnsson are probably on their way out sooner rather than later. I think it's also time to swap Barrie for a guy who fits better. We should get rid of Ceci while we're at it, but switching up 4 defensemen in January is probably a bridge too far.
