not playing victim its just kinda true, even Spezza as a first time offender got 6 games. there are alot more examples but Ill let someone else cover it or well its been 5 pages since this comment Im sure someone already has
It’s declared 6 games because in person hearings are already above 5 gamesJust as it sounds.
A lot of emotion from Sens fans. Look at the title of this thread emotionally declaring a 6 game plus suspension.
Users from every fan base coming in here to label Rielly as dirty or a villain.
Half of the people in this thread are in denial about Grieg.
It's funny, but it's clear that some people should move over to figure skating.
Its too harsh. I hope there's an appeal then. It’s declared 6 games because in person hearings are already above 5 games

You'll find out soon enough that a two hander to the face is not a hockey play and indeed has no place in the game.Just as it sounds.

The league goes out of their way to claim that player history + precedent are considerations yet in some cases they don't seem to matter. There's zero consistency.
Event with say the case of Bunting last year, despite his reputation, had zero history with dangerous play, still received more games than comparable first time offenders.
There's zero transparency

What Greig did is one thing- and it deserved a response, but not that response.
It has nothing at all to do with people needing to move to figure skating, it has everything to do with no matter what happens you're responsible for your actions.
And morgan Rielly is about to receive a 5 game reminder of that.
Every fanbase can say the same. I’ll go next as a Jets fan. Scheifele with 4 playoff games (first time offender). Dillion just recently. 3 games for what most felt warranted the 5 mins in game penalty and maybe 1 game. See my point?not playing victim its just kinda true, even Spezza as a first time offender got 6 games. there are alot more examples but Ill let someone else cover it or well its been 5 pages since this comment Im sure someone already has
It’s not too harsh, it was a predatory unprovoked attackIts too harsh. I hope there's an appeal then.
Bunting had a large history of borderline plays. It makes sense to bring the hammer down on such a player when they do something over the line, to make sure they don't do it again. It's a big difference from a player like Grzelcyk who speared Pacioretty, but is very unlikely to do something like that again.
Crazy that the Leafs can’t beat one of the biggest disappoints this year eh?Chirping another fan base when your team has been one of the absolute biggest disappointments in the NHL this season is wild to me.
What are your thoughts of this breakdown?
That was the 5 game suspension that was done over the phone ?Gallagher had an in-person hearing and got less than 6 games.
He declined the in-person hearing and played with Parros though, not that Parros would ever have a bias though.

That's not in the league rules though.
The underlying problem with dpos (and this goes beyond the case of Bunting) is there seems to be this attitude of making it up as they go along
Well, I think if it was a significant deflection that wouldn't have resulted in it hiting the head if not for Greig's action (raising his arm to try and defend himself) then maybe you weigh that in a bit, but it's not the winning argument some think. In this case, there a non-zero chance that even if Greig didn't raise his arm the stick still rids up into the head, it was reckless regardless.
Of note, the NHL did address the claim that other incidents got off lighter when the player had no prior history, and they brought up Thornton from way back, and Spezza recently, they'll now be able to add Perron.
In the end, this seems like a pretty easy 4-6 games, looking like the latter given the in person hearing. Had the stick not rode up the arm and been a more direct to the head hit, I think we might have seen double digits get considered, so maybe 7-10, but likely landing at 8.
