Methot agrees it should be a suspension. Guaranteed Methot also agrees it should have been gloves dropped, scrum not crosscheck to the head as well. The idea of a response is one thing, not this response.
Everyone agrees it should be a suspension. 99.9% of Leafs fans have said it should be a suspension. It shouldn't be this difficult.

You’ll forgive me if you don’t take your word as the arbiter of what is fun/funny/entertaining/significant.

Somehow Alfie waving a stick in the air became an egregious offence that is still talked about today, so your collective track record for judgment on that score is suspect.
I think I would need receipts because outside of it coming up on SportsCenter, I haven't once heard a Leaf fan talk about it or be mad about it in god knows how many years since it happened lol. I personally thought it was funny, but as usual I only find out what "Leaf fans" are supposedly still mad about from fans of other teams.

I think it's about as realistic as believing Sens fans are still bitter about Leaf playoff wins over them 2 decades ago (which is to say, not very). What do I know.

I guess you weren't here for the summers of Pierre, because there was plenty of crowing by your bunch too.
The Senators have been run like shit for like 15 years. Im not backing that era whatsoever, we're just hoping this new group has a clue. They seem to with the Martin/Alfie hire.

Your "source" for justifying what Rielly did is a guy on Twitter with the same number of NHL points that I have.

Reach harder.

How is that my source?

There’s been multiple NHL players mentioned in this thread. You decided to pick on one.

I think a guy who played hockey his whole life, got drafted, and actually played in the NHL knows the game and culture better than you.

Should I keep adding NHL players or…?

It always comes up when they do their Battle of Ontario recaps because nothing of note has really happened since then.

At the time it was a pretty big deal, which I think was surprising because it was just a bit of a joke between countrymen.

What a useless reply

What did that add to anything?
It added my opinion, which since you found it unsubstantial, I am happy to add. I find it sad to watch a general portion of a fan base defend cross checking another player in the face.... after the whistle.

The fun part of this post is that you call Jay Rosehill a "player".

He played in the NHL. Thats my definition of an NHL player.

I know some Hfboards posters think they’re better or more knowledgeable than NHL players about playing in the NHL though.

Oh, I misread it as being a currently held 'vendetta' Leafs fans hold against Alfie for it.

I do remember Sundin coming out and (maybe because of the media frenzy) saying it was a joke and they are friends etc. a couple days after the fact.

My response had nothing to even do with Rielly’s cross check I know it was dirty, my point was the greig deserved some sort of response not saying the current one was the appropriate one

Guaranteed if there were legitimate quotes asked of the players they would all say it should have been differently, but the response in theory was justified. Certainly appears you are defending it. Perhaps the tune will change with a 6 game suspension for a team with no other defense to speak of.
