Moose Season Discussion

Was at the game tonight. I wasn't fully watching so might have missed some things but didn't really notice Chaz or Chibrikov out there. One of Lamberts biggest criticisms at the draft was his hockey IQ and making stupid passes/giveaways. I must say he made several smart passes and didn't notice any giveaways or dumb plays. He looked pretty good out there, nothing amazing but seemed to always be involved in the play. Honestly I would say his hockey IQ and decision making were well above average. If his hockey "IQ" is the biggest knock on him, then look out.
Nice to hear. The 2C spot is up for grabs and it would be awesome if Big Bad Brad can grab it in the next couple of years.

It was an ugly game to watch. The PP was simply awful... guys turning the puck over with the man advantage for no reason. Chibrikov had a couple of nice shifts where he was noticable.

Chibs has some nice wheels on him... help setup a Lambert going going on a Ehlers esque skate around the perimeter of the offensive zone.

Mallot pumping L'Heroux's face in for coming after Lambert. L'Heroux has turned into a bit of a goon. I remember him being a highly touted scoring forward in his draft year.

Nice game by Chibrikov, 2 points, tried to drop the gloves to fight before the ref came in and had a huge block at the end with the Admirals being on an EN with the extra attacker. I am a believer, could be a fit on the Lowry line.

The notifications on my phone went off, it turns out that it's because the Moose are playing the Wolves in an early start today. I knew they were in Chicago today but I didn't realize it was a matinee.

Moose are up 2-0 in the first on goals from Bongiovanni and Jones. Listening to the game on the radio right now...

Well, it didn't end well for the Moose. The Wolves put up four unanswered goals to win the game 6-3 in front of a packed house at the Allstate Arena. Nathan Sucese with the hat trick for Chicago. Looks like Tyrel Bauer had himself a second period scrap today, I'll have to look that one up.

Anyway, I'll blame the loss on all the screaming kids at the game today...yeah, let's go with that.

The Moose are now in fifth place in the division, one point out of a playoff spot behind Rockford.

Moose are a tire fire in the defensive zone. I don't think I've ever seen so many defensive zone giveaways in one period.

Another goal against due to a defensive zone giveaway. Lundmark this time. 5-2.

And then Lundmark takes a penalty. This is frustrating to watch because the Moose are dominating outside of their own zone, but the second it gets past their blue line they go brain dead. Bauer, Lundmark, Capobianco have had some egregiously bad defensive plays.

On a bright note this is the first time I've been able to watch Kuzmin since his first game where he was a disaster and he seems to have settled in and has made some really clever plays. First time watching Barteaux as well who hasn't been terrible.

Another bright note has been Nikkanen who had a great second period. Still needs to accelerate better and lost a chance at a breakaway because of it, but he actually has some solid 4 way mobility and reads the ice pretty well. Him and Torgersson are a handful on the boards.

Stankoven and Bourque are going to be big players for Dallas in the near future.

With the loss the Moose record in the first game of a two-game set is now 2-10 and they are 9-2 in the second game which I guess bodes well for Sunday.

That is such a weird stat. I was at last night's game and it was fairly dull to watch because the home team was never really in it, when Texas scored that goal a few seconds before the end of the first that kind of felt like the backbreaker. Hopefully the second part of that stat comes through tomorrow.

I loved seeing Dawson Barteaux out there in his second game for the Moose and I thought he handled himself well paired with Kyle Capobianco.

Very clean game, only a couple of penalties if memory serves despite some after the whistle shoving at various points throughout. Will be interesting to see how things shake out Sunday.

I am only half paying attention to the game but this is one of the better Moose games I have watched... yes there have been defensive howlers but they have generated their fair share on the other end as well.

Edit: Absolute snipe by Sautner.

Refs give the Stars a PP....they score and then again with a minute to go and Moose lose 3-2.
Not a bad game all in all.
