Moose Season Discussion

So far I am just stat watching with the Moose but it’s a really impressive start for Lambert and Chibrikov. Lambert is only in his draft +2 season so it’s nice to see him pick up where he left off last season in Seattle (league adjusted of course). So far this is a pretty big step for his age. Chibrikov is just as impressive considering he came over from Russia and seems to be imposing his will in a tough league. I haven’t watched the games yet, do the stat lines match the eye test?

I'm also happy Chibi is getting some regular minutes with the same team. Felt like he was part yo-yo the last few years bouncing up and down through leagues

Didn't watch the game yesterday, but on Friday Chibrikov sent in Oligny alone, hit the post, Zhilkin alone, fumbled the puck and missed the net, hit Mallott alone in front of the net multiple times, and set up multiple other opportunities. He should have had 3 or 4 assists that game, with a bit of luck could have had more than that. He was very unlucky to only get 1.

Coming into the season after Chibrikov's impressive training camp it was mentioned that at the same age Kucherov put up 24 points in 17 games in the AHL and it wasn't fair to compare them. I still don't think it's fair to compare them but just going by that measuring stick Chibrikov's 8 points in 6 games is very, very close. 9 points would be outpacing Kucherov and he's had the chances to get there for sure. He looks insanely dynamic at the AHL level and honestly would probably be a top 2 Jets prospect for me if we were to do the rankings now.

Zhilkin does not look out of place at all in the AHL which is very impressive for a D+2 player. He's centering Chibrikov and Viel at the moment and once he gets more comfortable I think his and Chibrikov's numbers will just keep going up. His short handed assist was really nice, he's very shifty.

Lambert tends to not be super noticeable for stretches, he's not as dynamic as Chibrikov, but then he'll pull a breakaway out of nowhere. His assist on Sautner's first goal last night was beautiful, if a little lucky.

@ICdave what's the word on Kuzmin? Just press box duties? If they're not going to play him I wish they'd just send him down, there are better candidates to sit in the press box.

I actively shit on the chib vs kuch comparisons because I felt they were overly premature (and still do) but I'm becoming more optimistic as the results roll in

Do you think all of Lambert, Chibrikov and Mcgroarty are in the NHL next year? I’m getting more excited about this new wave of forwards.

I doubt we see all 3, expecting at least one if we don't sign Nino:

Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
XXX - Perfetti - Ehlers
Iafallo - Lowry - Appleton
Barron - Kupari - Namestnikov

I could also see them trade Ehlers for a dman upgrade and add 2 of them - maybe McGroarty up with 81 & 55, and one of Brad/Chibri replacing Ehlers (similar skillsets)

Ehlers is in a bit of a slump and all of a sudden everyone wants to trade him. Not going to get much for him until he gets going. Not going to want to trade him when he does.

McG replaces Nino next year. Apples and Names replaced the year after. Ehlers and Iafallo either extended or traded before the 25 season. Same situation as Scheif and Helle this year.

I'll just say some of us thought he would be an excellent piece to move for a quality D man long before this...
