Moose Season Discussion

The Moose just have no talent at forward. It's very possible that own goal will cost them this series.

Milwaukee has Manitoba outclassed at forward for sure. They've been exploiting Gawanke for a lot of odd man rushes but the forwards deserve some blame for not covering for him.

Harkins keeps the season alive with 1:57 left! 1-1.

And Stastney scores with 27 seconds left. Comedy of errors.

Salminen the only reason that game was close. Better luck next year.

Salminen and Harkins could only carry the team so far. Frustrating to watch the team struggle to generate offense all 5 games and stick with the same guys, but I guess it's a bad look to sit the guys that got you there for rookies. Frustrating games to watch. Seemed like every time Gawanke stepped up on the blue line the puck went by for an odd man rush.

Extra frustrating that Fjallby didn't play. Would have helped the Moose a lot.

The Moose are just hilariously porous on forward. Next season they should have Lucius and Lambert (and Chibrikov) but I'd like to see True North bring in some proven AHL talent that can score at forward. To be fair they brought in Limoges this year (and I think they expected Eyssimont and Stenlund to be on the Moose) but they need more help upfront and have needed it for a few years.

I know TNSE sees the Moose as entirely developmental but I don't think icing a more competent roster would hurt our prospects too much.

Yeah, just not enough offence.

First line had Malott (44 points in 71 games), Harkins (50 points in 44 games, so that's fine) and Toninato (35 points in 50 games)

Second line was Torgersson (20 points in 69 games), Maier (27 points in 52 games), and Limoges (54 points in 63 games, also fine)

Third line: Jones (17 in 70), Meireles (19 in 62), and Ford (4 in 8 — too small of a sample size)

Fourth: Polei (20 in 52), Nikkanen (16 in 66) and Bongiovanni (18 in 56).

So a below-average top six other than Harkins and Limoges (and I guess Toninanto) which is compounded by an abysmal bottom six.

While we're at it, please bring back the old Moose colours! I know the green and brown doesn't fit the Jets' colour scheme, but my goodness, it looks so much better on the Moose.

It was a weak roster to start with. I'm not sure that TNSE had intentions of competing for a championship. I suspect that they actually surpassed expectations. I'd like to see them go for it, even it means less developmental roster spots.

Hell, yes! Going matching colour scheme was just weapons grade stupid. I mean, a blue moose? Where are we, frickin' Pandora?

Maybe if the rumour of a switch back to the heritage jersey for the Jets is true, they will go "heritage" for the Moose, too.

Somebody once said, “You guys are maybe underestimating just how hard it is to make the playoffs”. And they did push their first round series to the max so yeah, they've gotta be happy with this season. :sarcasm:
