Moose Season Discussion

My pleasure. I’m working on Friday night so I’ll have to catch the replay of the game on AHL TV, but would definitely recommend anyone on the fence about going to pick up some tickets. It was a lot of fun. Was also great to see so many classic green Moose jerseys in the crowd. I know the current colour palette fits the Jets more, but I really wish they would bring back the green and brown ones. They look sharp and fit the Moose theme better.

Agreed on everything you said. Chisholm already looked good in his debut this year. I remember talking to Peterborough fans when he was in junior who told me he would be an NHLer and I tried to not get caught up in the hype but he is looking damn good.

Forgotten in this is Lundmark, who has been solid this year, but can’t crack the lineup when Heinola and Samberg are down there.
Yeah Lundmark has been good for sure. Plays a very solid but quiet all-round game, similar to a DeMelo.

Samberg's a funny one for me -- I like your observation that nothing much happens when he's on the ice for either team, which is a good thing if you're the Jets. He has played well with a number of more O-minded D on the Moose, including Heinola, and I can see him playing that role very effectively going forward. I think we're probably not too far off from seeing his ceiling, but he is def hard to play against in the slot in a way that none of the Jets'D (other than maybe an uninjured Pionk) are at the moment. I like him there much more than Stanley, for example.

But Chisholm, yeah -- so much fun to watch. We used to key in on him during TC when I was able to get to Canada with the kids, and he's up there with JMo (not quite Ehlers) in terms of 4-way mobility and how he can generate speed from the pivot. I will be super happy to see him go all the way, kid works incredibly hard. I don't think he's at Heinola's level in terms of pure vision and creativity, and becoming that guy that the play just flows through, but he's still got plenty of potential, maybe enough to shift one of the road-blocks presently in place.

Agreed, I actually could see Lundmark as a potential DeMelo replacement down the road.

I think playing Samberg with an offensive guy is smart, and the level of defense and his play style, like you mentioned, is something lacking on the Jets. I think he’ll be the first 2nd pick of ours to really hit.

I don’t know where Chisholm’s spot is right now but I certainly hope he gets one. He’s moved from “player with potential/maybe a trade sweetener” to “definitely a gamer, let’s see what we’ve got — it’s looking good” in my books.

Someone screwed up tonight…. This might be bad mojo.

First game I've been able to kind of watch. Terrible internet where I am. Some brutal giveaways.
