Quite an impressive draft+1 season for Cole in the AHL. Nearly a .75 pts/game pace fresh out of junior.
We might have a future #1 centre or winger there, I tell you what.
Dubois is a really, really good defensive C. He absolutely stifles other teams, and he has more offense than he's shown in WPG. He's a bona fide C, not a winger. He's better as a center then a winger imo. If he Keeps developing well he can be our 1a center behind Scheifele and we can move Dubois to wing somewhere down the line.
He easily has the smarts and skills to be a 1C, juat needs to keep working on his skating and strength.

Just a smidge under Byfield (18 in 25) for AHL PPGUp to. . 17 points in 24 games played now?
My guess is Perfetti starts the season playing in Stastny spot with Dubois/Ehlers. If he performs well he stays the season and I think he is similar in style to Stastny, very cerebral player with high end puck skills who isn't the fastest guy out there.
Yeah, I see him as essentially a smarter version of Stastny. Hopefully his skating and size develops some more, but he will be a HUGE asset for us.My guess is Perfetti starts the season playing in Stastny spot with Dubois/Ehlers. Really hope he doesn’t have to go back to the OHL next year , won’t help his development at this point.
How many Moose games have you watched this year? I was hoping you could maybe provide a bit of an in-depth report on Chisholm.Chisholm had a much better night. He wasn't running around nearly as much and was pretty disciplined in positioning and he was steady with the puck. He was moving the puck much better on the PP today.
Kind of shocked that Kovacevic hasn't been called up and given a look. He looks like a stable 5/6 guy and I would love to see him either with Morrssey or Stanley
Chisholm has been a rookie. He has ups and downs but you can see he has potential. He needs consistency which is something a lot of Junior players lack when they turn pro. The pro game is about doing the same thing over and over and over again. Junior players tend to drift shift to shift.

Basically, the Jets really need to get their top young D into some NHL action in the next dozen games, since they are relying on them for depth. In particular, Heinola, Samberg, Niku and maybe Kovacevic need to get some NHL experience to get up to speed.Kind of shocked that Kovacevic hasn't been called up and given a look. His statline is junior was impressive, but I assumed he was just a great offensive D-man who would get lost in his own zone. Alas, I talked with some Petes fans who told me he was actually their best D defensively as well, and the team MVP.
I’ve only seen one Moose game this year, but it appears he’s adjusting well to pro? Looks like he has some decent stats too. Is it fair to say he’s developed into a legit prospect for us?
I wanna temper my expectations but I’m getting real intrigued/excited by him — I think there’s NHL potential there.
Of course, as sure as the sun rising in the east there are prospects who look good at lower levels who can never put it together. We’ve had defensemen in the past who looked good in the AHL or junior only to fizzle out more spectacularly than Black Sabbath after they kicked out Ozzy — Kostalek and Kichton come to mind.
What’s a legitimate expectation and timeline for Chisholm?
Thank you. Sounds very encouraging, especially for a 5th round pick.I have watched about 90% of the games.
Chisholm has a had a good start to his pro career.
He has very good 4way mobility which allows him to retrieve the pick well and make a good breakout. His positioning needs some pro polish as does his net front and board work but he is OK at those for a rookie. His skating allows for him to recover when he makes a mistake.
Offensively he has pretty good hands and good vision and passing. His shot is ok but his mobility allows him to open up shooting lanes to get it through.
I think he has the skillset to be an NHL dmen if he keeps developing over the next year or two, maybe as high as an ok second pairing guy.
I know this question wasn't for me but I'll give my take as well. How many Moose games have you watched this year? I was hoping you could maybe provide a bit of an in-depth report on Chisholm.

Very much appreciate your input, thank you for taking the time to share.I know this question wasn't for me but I'll give my take as well.
Chisholm has had a very nice transition to pros and he's still only 21. He does seem to have a bit of a reputation for being bad defensively but I'm not really seeing it, definitely not to the extent that Kichton and Gawanke are and were bad defensively (though recently Gawanke has been looking better).
In addition to being better than Kichton was defensively, Chisholm's skating is on a whole other planet from Kichton. Chisholm has definitely had a few facepalm worthy defensive plays but he can often recover very quickly because of his skating. Honestly I think people are overselling his offensive game and underselling his defensive game. He was the go to defenseman in Peterborough which was an offensive Juggernaut. Whenever I watched him there he was never really doing anything special offensively. Like he put up points but not from big clappers or back door plays or anything like that, he was just steady defensively and good at pushing the play to the offensive zone and that was enough to pick up a lot of points. This year he's actually had a lot of trouble putting passes into players' wheelhouses, especially on the powerplay.
Here's a take that I know will not be agreed with by many: I like Chisholm's game more than Samberg's, at least right now. I feel like Samberg has had just as many and just as egregious defensive gaffes as Chisholm so far this season. Which is expected for a first year pro. Honestly this is more about me praising Chisholm than it is bashing Samberg, because I do really like Samberg, but I would not be surprised at all if Chisholm were to have a better NHL career than Samberg.

Honestly my biggest fear at the deadline was him being a throw in for a marginal defenseman. Not that there couldn't have been more terrible outcomes just that that one felt most likely. If we could get a TJ Brodie type that would be an amazing outcome. It would be nice if Chisholm could become a TJ Brody type smooth skating puck moving transition specialist. I have been a big fan since his D +1 breakout season. He is a promising Dark horse.
