Gazzola says he's heard its gotten to the point where the Oilers may just have to make a drastic move on their defence quickly

Like the D isn't even the problem aside from Bouchard going off-script which a trade isn't going to change, lol. Another D man is going to make the forwards score and make up for the lack of high danger saves? I don't think so.

To be fair which goalie hasn't looked terrific against this year? Saros? Vladar? Lankinen?

Either way we missed the bus on acquiring a starting goalie. I'm not entirely sure where we go for a solution either.

MTL, OTT both are pretty happy with their goaltending so they're not moving anyone.

Our only real options are with rebuilding teams so that limits us to the likes of Anaheim, Utah, Chicago, San Jose, Nashville, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Columbus.

Of which, I think only CHI, SJS, PHL, and CBJ are willing to trade a goalie right now. But that being said it's far too early for a trade like that to occur. Most of those teams, even as rebuilders, are close to .500 plus absolutely nobody is gonna do us a favour.

With that in mind, the first thing I'd do if I'm the (lack of) braintrust of Bowman/Jackson is I'd fire Schwartz with immediate effect. Bring in whatever goalie coach you can find and maybe even a few of them to do an audit of what's wrong with Skinner. Meanwhile you just gotta run with Pickard until either Skinner figures it out or we find a trade.
Dostal with a 0.944 winning against DAL. He is at the tops in most metrics. Don't think they would trade him. Gibson prob washed.

I would have liked to see them sign just one of Arvi / Skinner and keep one of Holloway / McLeod. Both are flawed players (and Holloway’s wrist scares me), but they could have used one more speedy young forward that can put up points here and there. Idgaf about the others

In hindsight, not signing Henrique + Skinner was probably the correct moves, retaining McLeod + re-upping Broberg + Holloway earlier would've obviously been the correct thing to do.

Jackson will have to own it.

Prime telecast tonight "This is such a good game" It was 0-0 at the time and two teams trying to constrict each other. Then the Habs scored one deflection goal in late 2nd period to win the game....

Like I said earlier I'm lol at the Prime games being so f***ing bad. Hopefully they don't ever come back. WTF as well with a paid prescription service having all these adds and then having adds on screen DURING play. Prime can f*** right off. Big logos all over screens, weird camera angles, way too much behind the net footage and to top it shining up the shitturd this game was.

McDrai playing like nobody in Canada is watching. Maybe they saw the ratings.
I love the Prime lol. Feed is good. Beats SNET

Yeah that's the rub, I didn't go too deep on the teams I listed because as mentioned I don't think anyone is gonna make a trade this early. We can start talks but teams aren't gonna sell until they are officially cooked.

But yeah Anaheim won't trade Dostal and Gibson isn't an option. Utah isn't trading Vejmelka or Ingram because they're pretty good.

Philadelphia, Chicago, San Jose, and Columbus would trade a goalie but you're probably not getting a starter even if you get theirs.

Injured Arvid was the worst signing. 4Mx2 lol. Not sure how any of Arvid, Skinner or Podz was going to help us at all. All the players we lost are playing better.

Will the defense fix the shit goaltending and inconsistent offense?

I worry about them panicking and blowing assets on a 2nd pairing D when those two issues are much bigger problems

There's not even a gauruntee this "second pairing D" will even play on the 2nd pairing. Nurse is a weird, unpredictably player, there's every chance that the best partner for him is already here in Kulak.

His stats have gone through the roof playing with Kulak, there's absolutely no guarantee the same will happen with like a Petterson or Provorov. That play may end up on the 3rd pairing as a result.

It is pretty clear (retrospectively in my case) that some pretty huge mistakes were made.
Clearly. Signing Jeff Skinner and Henrique , for example, couldn't allow us to sign Holloway and Broberg. I still like the Arvidsson signing because he's been better than both and I expected him to be a 50 point winger

I don’t mind those signings. I was lukewarm about re-signing Henrique though. Thought he might be done.

I think we're missing Arvidsson right now, offence feels a lot flatter with him gone, he creates a lot more activity even if the shooting percentage wasn't there.

With him gone, last two games have been a struggle to score at even strength.

The players gone likely would not have the same numbers here either, we know how shit goes with our secondary scoring, there's always been long droughts there no matter who is brought in.

Every year, every coach ends up going back to McDavid + Draisaitl for stretches.

Omg and this organization and their inability to assess and evolve. The defence has largely been fine. Look at our defensive metrics. They’re good. It’s the mix on forward and the goaltenders that are the glaring problem right now.
