So far on Hf I've seen

- DD is useless
-DD can't play defense
-MT values DD's success over the team
-Gomez was better than DD (not a joke)
-DD wouldn't even be a 3nd line C on the Sabres
-DD is overpayed
-DD ruined Eller's development
-DD is ruining Galchenyuk's development

So does everyone who chooses to skip over the logical posts. :)

HF has a weird obsession with DD

I think most people who follow and know hockey realize that as long as DD is considered a top 6 player, this team will never be a contender.
I also think that many folks see the favoritism that MT employs and that creates animosity towards the player.
Habs can do better in their top 6, not sure why MB does not see it.

I won't be surprised if Eller is gone before the end of the year.

To be fair... At DD's age Gomez had four 70 or more pt seasons. He also has over 700 points in over 900 games. Safe to say both players are in different stratospheres in terms of careers.

I'd like to see DD score 80+ pts playing with Gionta :sarcasm:

Was Madden treated like Eller is He was their playoff God! :D

The team was a contender for the Stanley Cup Final a couple of months ago... with DD as a top 6 player.

When Pacioretty was lighting the world on fire and then Chara directed him towards the stanchion, Gomez was Pacioretty's center. When Gomez came back from injury during our tank year, it took him just one shift to generate points with Pacioretty. At the very least, Gomez's chemistry with Pacioretty is on par with DD, and arguably better. And Gio was their right winger.

Have Patches and DD ever played apart for more then a shift or game??

I don't think DD played on a line with Max to start the season last year. DD started miserably and had something like 1 or 2 points in 20 games or so to start the season. DD turned his season around after being paired with his buddy Max around that time and they've been inseparable ever since then. They're basically the Habs version of the Sedin's.. :sarcasm:

Even Randy Carlyle separated BFF Bozak and Kessel to get Kadri playing with Kessel to try and get him going during the last Leafs game against the Sabres. Maybe MT will have a similar vision regarding separating DD and Max one of these days but I won't hold my breath waiting. :)

So what do you want in return for Eller he isn't very valuable apparently.
A better center than he is? a strong RW?
A second round draft pick? Halak?

We made the ECF largely on the play of Eller up front.
I'm assuming your logic is...
Just what is your logic?
Just who do you propose to use to fill the gigantic hole you've created in our lineup by trading Eller?
I don't know about you, but my thoughts are that the end game is a Stanley Cup.
So unless we not going to contend this year we have to be careful.

There is no use spouting a knee jerk trade unless you have something concrete in return in mind.
We are at a point where our GM is working (Back) from a Stanley Cup to present day.
Do you understand that concept? Any move we make from here on in has to be calculated in two ways.
First does it make us better and second does it fill a hole without creating a new one?

Nope wasn't a contender....anyway, Eller kind of take that top 6 spot away for DD and thank go he had.

What will do if we trade Eller in the next playoff run? Expect DD to score his 1st 5 on 5 goal after 27 games without one of these goal....

We aren't trading Plekanec anymore like all DD's fan screamed this summer:sarcasm:

it is just a feeling i have, i don't make the decisions...call Marc Bergevin if you want more information about my gut feeling, maybe he will care but i doubt it. I'm sure if he does something, it will be in the best interest of the team.

Does anyone else follow Andrew Berkshire on Twitter?

The guy acts so petty for a 'reporter'. He's the founder of the "I LOVE ELLER AND HATE DD" club, and his writing is so subjective for someone who gets as many hits as he does on his website. I mean yeah, Eller should play tonight, but this guy takes his obsession to a whole new level. Mercilessly calls out Desharnais, but turns a blind eye when his favourite players make mistakes or are deserving of criticism. Shoddy reporting at its finest.

He can be baby sometimes. He is also really biased towards and against certain players, but it's hard not to admit that he's pretty insightful a lot of the times. He does have the tendency to cherry pick stats. That being said, he's not really different than any other reporter or media type: see rds with reference to DD and Bouillon and sportsnet in regards to the Leafs. No one's narratives are absolute and it's nice to get different ones sometimes.

37 games together, I think. Gomez generated 24 of his points in games he played with Pacioretty in 2010-2011; this was between December 15, 2010 to March 8th, 2011. His remaining 15 points were spread out in the other 43 games. Quite a drastic difference.

Just a reminder, not all of the points Gomez generated during those games had Pacioretty contributing a goal or assist. But Gomez's pace with Pacioretty was far more respectable than his pace without him. Pacioretty masked Gomez's declining quality of play.
