Only if Dubas gets silly and tries to get them for under 10m, playing hardball in the process

Nylander could have signed an offer sheet instead of missing two months of the season, but didn't. Why? For the same reason Matthews and Marner won't: they aren't going to torpedo their team like that.

Offer sheets aren't even signed in the most contentious of contract negotiations anymore.

?????

I make a thread about offer-sheeting a player.

You go into same thread, and quote people to tell them that it doesn't happen in today's NHL, because it hasn't happened the last three seasons.

That isn't how that works; there has not been a player as talented as Matthews to hit RFA since in-his-prime Shea Weber.

There's no hate bubble; I suggested an idea and you decided to be a *****ebag because you think your players are immune to being offer-sheeted.
No one offer sheets anyone anymore.

It's no immunity. It doesn't happen.

Honestly, Arizona should go ahead and steal Matthews, Toronto still has Tavares and will have 4 first round pick + their.... They will still be extremely competitive for a decade with their 4 first round...

Probably won't stop you from saying something though, right?
I’m just stating facts that are pissing you off wich isn’t my intention because i don’t think dubas is dumb enough to not sign him before, but matthews as all the leverage in the world.

If the Habs have Matthews they wouldn't be top 10 picks.

you would still give 4x first round pick for Matthews.... you are insane.
and you never know if you will make the playoff. if MAtthews is injured one year you won't make the playoff.

Think outside the box.. Just imagine, Sign MAtthews but give them Lafrenière...

I'd give up for first round picks to see Leafs fans have the tantrums on this board if Matthews signed with the Habs. It'd be a bad decision hockey wise but this forum would be unbelievable.

We don't know if he was ever even presented with an offer sheet. I would definitely say it's more GMs fearing retribution as the reason we don't see offer sheets

indeed, I want Toronto to lose MAtthews and Marner, but honestly they will move them before they have to sign them.

honestly not sure why you are being so dismissive about the opportunity of the Coyotes offer sheeting Mathews. I'm sure he would love to sign in his home state if given the opportunity. If they were to offer him 7 X13 he would likely sign and Toronto would need to match impacting their salary cap.

Montreal won't be a bad enough team to compete for Lafreniere unless they sell half the team, and you're worried about them being there with Matthews at 1C????

I wonder if there was an unspoken agreement with the gm s around the league wrt nylander, a United stand against rfas.

Habs and Leafs throwing offer sheets at each other would be savage lol

I can't see Montreal doing this to the Leafs, but what story that would be lol

So Nylander signed a 7m X 6 year contract. You would've thought if any team had wanted Nylander that could have offered about 7.6m X 5 years and it would have just cost 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick if the Leafs and not matched (and Nylander signed the offer sheet).

No the Canadians couldn't offer both offer sheets since they don't have the picks for the two players...one offer at a time only.

There is no way Leaf has the cap for both Matthews and Marner and Kapanen next year, plus some reasonable deals for their other RFAs. I gotta believe Nylander has to be traded for cap reasons. And his front loaded contract makes it a nice trade for a team who would only pay 6.14, a year in salary for five years, on his almost 7m cap hit.

Any good team can have 1 bad year, St-Louis is my prime exemple, or LA kings who tried to push for the cup this year.....
Anything can happen and I won't let our stupid DG f*** our future prospects ( 4 x 1rd.......) for Matthews when we have KK/SUZ/DOMI

1 f***ed up bby MTL on those 4 years and it's GG

But they certainly do not have the bonus money.
the yotes as a franchise as nothing to lose. Matthews as a hometown boy is THE move that could turn the franchise around, they would go all out and throw everything they have if the opportunity was there.

Both Matthews and Marner will be locked up long term before any offer sheet would be valid.

Theoretically, sure.
I highly doubt they'd want to play in Montreal, so I doubt they'd sign it.

Nah, I don't think they would want to leave Toronto, but they would be going to the Habs, another crazy market, with amazing die hard fans.

It's not like they would be going to Arizona lol
