We need a DP BTB midfielder to be successful. Sorry, but Donadel-Bernier isn't gonna cut it for me.

Nice.

You do know we were a thread's width of getting Finnbogason with a 4 mil transfer fee offer right? This year is one of those years where the title is a realistic objective.

If they're willing to spend a $4M transfer fee on Finnbaugason, pretty sure they don't need my charity.

And it doesn't have to be $2M either, a DP is one that makes simply over $457,500. The team covers the excess over the amount.

Let's get Nacho Scocco dammit!

That would be pretty good but would Old Boys want to sell him? If they do he probably wouldnt go cheap. Personally i wouldnt take another winger as DP, IMO IMFC needs more quality in midfield. Mallace, Alexandre, Bernier etc, there's no one that has full season starter quality there. I love Bernier btw, but honestly I dont think he can give us a full season as a starter, though I hope we see him often enough, he's the best midfielder we have after Donadel (as long as you keep Donadel as a #6, that is).

Alot of you repeat the need for a box-to-box, I'd love for IMFC to get one too obviously, like pretty much every fan of every other team in football. Everyone wants a good box-to-box, they're some of the most valuable assets in a team. Our closest chance for an accessible box-to-box type player was Will Johnson. Btw Harry Shipp is NOT a box-to-box, and trying to make one out of him would be absurd, he's the attacking midfielder we needed, with great vision and will do a lot better than Piatti in that position (he actually passes the ball!).

Yaya Touré will be available this summer but I hope IMFC doesn't try signing him, he's been a shadow of himself in the EPL these last years, doesnt seem like he feels like paying anymore, he's nonchalant and much more like an attacking midfielder than a box-to-box anyways. I want players that want to come here motivated to win it all, League, playoffs and CCL.

Atiba Hutchinson would be awesome, and he wanted to come to MLS a few years ago, but he just signed a 4 year extension with Besiktas, he has the most minutes played this year.

This is not the Canadiens though. People keep asking for DP's while we already have spent millions on Drogba and Piatti. Meanwhile, our gate revenue is minimal. No less than a year ago Joey was saying on radio the team wasn't profitable and things had to change. I'm still unsure they have changed enough. Our team salary-wise is well positioned already.

Do I have to repeat what Saputo was willing to spend 5 weeks ago?

team became profitable within a month after Drogba was signed, no more problems there. The team has to consolidate its revenues though and so must prepare for post Drogba, which might come as soon as this summer. I think another high profile DP is essential for that in the current mtl football market conditions. Maybe after a couple years of filling stade saputo and with a competitive team things wont be as precarious. I know quite a few diehard football fanatics and theyre only starting to get somewhat interested in mls.

I don't think anybody is asking Shipp to be a box-to-box, just aware of the defensive side of the game knowing he'll probably play highest midfielder in a 4-3-3 system. With Bernier, Alexander, JGL and Malace we have enough depth with midfielders that can play at both sides, we just need that superstar to make a difference.

Best pro team in the city.

I wouldn't say the best yet. But definitely the one with the most potential and excitement by far.

Remember the fans, including most of us here, were pretty harsh on Saputo not doing anything after MDV left and how the team struggled in the home league. The only positive of that moment was our CONCACAF run. Lets wait till Drogba is gone and we'll see how it goes.

Football is the biggest sport in the world. With the biggest stars in the world. We have one already, now let's continue the trend. Football brings communities together and that's why the Montreal Impact will become the best damn team in the city.

Now that we have a pretty good idea of what Shipp and Salazar can give us (and come on, it *should* be a formality that we sign the latter), really curious to see what Ontivero can add at this point (preferably on the RW)

Yeah Salazar not only won a spot with IMFC he freaking deserves one on the starting 11 almost... Everything he does seems work i cant ev3n understand how such a talent foesnt go i. The first round.. Is it because he has Jagr like body?

Thrilled to see what he does this year... Could be a rookie of the year candidate. He has a weird body type for soccer but that isnt holding him back whatsoever. The typenof player Therrien would like to grind in the corners lol.

Agree on Salazar. I also can't make what type of role he'd thrive in. I think playing as a shadow striker next to DD theyd kill it together

is Salazar really that good or are we just biased because we all spent more time watching him because of his glorious hair

He was by far the most dangerous player for us against D.C. He was very impressive in the match against the NYRB as well. He seems to be this pre season's Cam Porter
