The Detroit TV feed was showing a fight from the Seventies and I noticed Ex-Hab Chuck Lefley watching the action. He was a good player in Montreal but he just couldn't get enough minutes in Montreal with all the talent on that roster. Sam Pollock traded him to St. Louis for a depth defenseman. Two years later he scored 43 goals for the Blues, the franchise record for a few years.

He was in Montreal long enough to get two Stanley Cup rings.

I can't say if I've noticed this myself. But I've heard and read many analysts say that the Finns play the kind of game that is closest to the North American style.
