Torts seems to know what he is doing.
This scratching has made Michkov a better overall player. He is producing more and is playing more physical/aggressive.
Hopefully torts knows when to ease off but so far it has worked
He likely would have been exactly as good without the scratching. Saying "he was scratched and now he's playing well" completely ignores the fact that he's just a good player and will play well regardless.

Who knows.
The guy had 1 hit all season prior to scratching.. has hits in every game.
People watching him closer would know more I guess.. I didn't see him play other than highlights ..

Good players sometimes require scratching and benching especially in their rookie season. It's overblown because the coach is Torts.

Nope. Too small and apparently his teammates don't like him. Bad guy, hein.
Sadly I think you are right....the Flyers would be better off without that Russian trouble maker....I just hope he hasn't been tarnished so bad that the Flyers perhaps could still get something for him....

Ha, this reminds me of that time when Zherdev played for the Flyers under Laviolette, was frequently scratched and gave an interview after the season where he said 'The coach told me to fight for a roster spot, wtf? I'm a scoring forward, not a fighter"

Michkov is mentally tougher than Zherdev for sure. Safe to say Michkov's increased physicality is the sign he understands that off to the KHL he goes with a production like that (not only is he just 2nd in team scoring (which is unacceptable by itself), he also isn't even PPG). I won't be surprised if he studies Tie Domi videos late at night!

This is fake data generated by an AI and does not in any way prove that these were Ovechkin's measurements during his rookie season.

An AI could perfectly well take his current measurements and make this connection to his rookie season even if it's untrue. And even then, it would be using his official measurements that could easily be inflated, as they often are.

Please don't quote AI as proof of anything.

AI still gets the job done. still gives u a vague idea of where he was at. it took some digging to find this. it's not my job to do endless research if you want to prove something wrong then do the work. Please don't tell me to not do something if your not willing to atleast take the time to prove it wrong.

Part of that is also because torts wants to give him easier match ups. Nothing wrong with that.

You think putting a prospect like Michkov with an AHL plug (albeit has been hot somehow lol) and a 4C type is better than playing with some of the more established younger players on the flyers is worth it idk man. I think it’s a horrific way to go about things, then he gets spammed as a PP merchant even when he produces with scrubs 🤣 double edged sword. The 2 5v5 assists today do NOT count ! 😂

Torts let it be known before the season that Michkov would sit some games. That suggests that his healthy scratches are more part of their development plan than an indictment on his performance.

Ovechkin was universally reported as 6-2 212 at the time of his draft. All his rookie cards give that measurement as do newspaper reporting.
One would assume measurements were taken from the combine.
It's not inconceivable that Ovechkin would grow another inch after 18 years of age.

Okay, now back to Michkov.
