The only edition that was unwatchable was that 2011-2012 "dump and don't chase" Cunneyworth trash of a team. That was beyond terrible. The current edition is fine, we're just in a bad slump, I find MOST games enjoyable. Some of them are boring, but that's just how hockey goes. Habs-Devils will never be good, ever

It's put the puck on net from anywhere offence. Forget tic-tac-toe. Forget making the extra effort to get to the slot. Forget all offensive creativity... This is 100%. Bryan Gionta-Michael Ryder-Jason Blake offence. Totally not adapted for most lineups and this lineup in particular.

Aren't you guys being a little harsh? It's not as if any of us has the power to jinx or change the outcome of anything the Habs do. Plus, we're not a booster club, I'd like to think that it's a forum open to all stripes. What does it matter that some think we can achieve a better team through tanking? Or that someone finds that the games lack entertainment? All of us are Habs fans, not all of us need to react the same way.

Keep them comin'. :yo:

Well said. There is way more than one, or two or even three ways to be a sports fan. There are as many ways as there are fans in fact.

But taking (friendly) shots at fans that don't share your views is also part of the fun, isn't it? ;)

Yeah but at some point, if they're actively rooting for the opponent every game, shouldn't they be in the other teams thread? A little positivism is always welcome in this HFwasteland of despair

Before Bergevin's PC, I was cheering for the team to lose, so that Therrien would be fired and we'd be back on track. But this ain't happening.

Now, I cheer for the team to lose so that Price doesn't rush back. Bergevin and Therrien are fired at the end of the season and we're back stronger next year.

I'm a fan and I hate to say it, but I don't see any positive with this team right now.

You do realize there 0% change Bergevin is fired at the end of the season, and chances are MT won't be fired either, unless we miss the playoffs by a lot.

They won't rush Price back, not again. Even if we are in a playoff spot.

No one is actually rooting for the opponent. People just have different goals for the team, and cheer for the team to attain that goal, the ultimate one being the Stanley Cup.

 Nice try but I don't know that you need to take shots at people to get that across.

Sure, but when you consider what has gone on since December 1st, how can we honestly blame fans for being cynical or not having the same enthusiasm some here do? A positive attitude is great, but not everyone thinks the same. Makes the world go round.

I don't know that too many here were impressed with Bergevin's PC. It may have turned off more than anything. Remember all the hype that was ongoing just before the holiday trade freeze? Bergevin stating the obvious and not leaving a lot of hope for change the rest of this season, is what is really putting a damper on things. Do we absolutely need to have Price back in order to make a trade involving redundant assets? Or to fill needs that for both this year and beyond?

I couldn't care less about Bergevin's X-Holer friend and how long he survives after Price returns. I do care that Price doesn't become a chronic injury liability -- and am hoping the team is acting in a manner that ensures that. However, there is a lot of post-season money that comes into play, so one never knows how much pull that will have on the outcome.

I think you're going to be disappointed. The Habs are going to make the playoffs.

I'll be happy if the Habs make the playoffs. I just don't want the Habs to BARELY miss the playoffs.

There is zero chance Bergevin gets fired. More plausible scenario is Michel getting fired.

Well, the rumour has it that they (Bergevin, Price etc) are waiting another few weeks and decide on Price's surgery based on where the team will be at that point.

This is pretty dumb. Just write the season off, get Price fixed and unload some vets. We could be back stronger next year.

Yeah, I could definately see Therrien fired even if the team finishes 9th. Bergevin vouched for him until the end of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if he told him he'd have no choice but to fire him if they missed.

It's an easy thing to say when your not the person who's going to cost your boss millions by not pushing for the playoffs.

I was wondering why a GDT against Columbus had 6 pages already with people's level of interest sinking and MB going all in with the tank. Reading the posts I realized the MT/MB/tank discussion just moved here.

again-- there are only 4 points separating 2nd and 6th in the division.

if we were 2nd in the division, would people be talking about tanking?

why do the current standings have so much influence?

we are only 48 games into the season...

does our fan base have a tendency to hit the panic button?

Even then he probable won't be fired. because Price was injured. y'all know that.

Therrien's offensive system is the offensive instructions given to a 4th line energy line instead given to the whole team. PP included. As soon as there's a shooting lane anywhere between the blue line and the goalie red line they put the puck to the net. Good things will happen. It's what PJ Stock and Dave Morrissette have heard every night their whole pro career.

There's 3 players on the team that can have some measure of success with this. MaxPac because of his shot. Gallagher, and Plekanec could until last year and can't anymore. We can expect 3 more years of this with extremely mediocre results. Players need to be chosen accordingly. Goalie needs to keep the other team to 1 goal. 2 if he's lucky.

Don't expect a miracle. If Molson approves and the fans can be lulled despite poor results, Therrien will continue doing what he does for the next 3 years.

Some of you really need to get off your high horse and stop telling people how they should or shouldn't cheer for the Habs. Some people want to win the cup and realize that it's unlikely to happen with Bergevin/Therrien. People have every right to want to tank and it doesn't make them any less of a fan. Same goes for those who don't want to tank.

Well, that's the same boss who knew or must have known his no. 1 goalie wasn't going to make it back for two months plus and instead decided to wing it with a rookie, a diminutive rookie (since jettisoned) and the Oilers' 4th goalie. If he was worried about costing his team millions, maybe he should have invested in a more reliable back-up during that span.
