Let's hope his teammates are as excited as most here. Imagine, Lafleur held out for not even a day in 1978 to be paid with the top players in the league. He was only making 100 G. This was during a 60 goal season. Subban gets 2 mil for 7 goals. Oh to be born at the right time.

And right there is why we just came off a work stoppage...

100 grand for Lafleur. Can't even imagine it.

Hopefully that means no more Kaberle for a while. Too bad we'll probably buy him out instead of Bourque tho.
I know last season wasn't great for Bourque. But a lot of players get off seasons where they play like ****. It's not acceptable. But so far, even if it's still early, Bourque has been playing extremely well. He'll eventually break the drought. No reason to buy him out so far.

Anyways, I'm so stoked to see PK again. If only he could start playing tomorrow. :P Can't wait 'till he's back. I was worried our D would start getting too tired and possibly injured. This is going to help out a lot.

You owe me an apology, he did sign under 3.5 millions per....
Really? I thought I said I'd write a retraction if it came out that MB had offered more than what we had discussed.

I'll assume you're correct though. Good call, I didn't think he'd sign for less than 3.5. You've got your apology. (Whether I promised one or not.) :)

I know Kaberle has been playing like total ****. But there's quite a lot of teams that are having troubles defensively. We could possibly trade him for a late draft pick. And the team that gets him could amnesty buyout him at the end of the season.

I really don't think it would be too hard to get rid of him. We won'T get much in return, but who really cares?

Lafleurs, you're a class act, and not to worry, PK will get is payday soon enough and this time Bergevin won't have any excuses to play hardball

PK is back, both Gally stays, that is a beautiful day....

We are thinking ahead - two years, when PK is up for renewal and decides Drew Doughty money is now his end game.

Sometimes it's okay to sign your best players to high paying contracts. Every contract doesn't have to be some home town discount for you to be a winning team. Quite the contrary. Teams who regularly sign players to big contracts usuaally have good teams.

the right man for the team?lol. we'll see.what if this blew up and we lost another quality player again?you telling me bergy couldn't get this done earlier?all of this for a million bucks?bergevin needs to prove himself too.

What if it didn't blow up? Oh wait, that's what happened! Clearly, Bergevin was very tactful here, he made sure not to make Subban bitter while offering him that contract and it worked. He was wise enough in his approach to have accomplished just that. So why talk about useless "what ifs"?

Your questions about Bergevin could be asked about Subban too. Difference is, I don't see the point in whining about it. We are 3-1, there is no bad blood between the two, etc. This is good for the team. Since I am a Canadiens fan first, I for one will be happy about it.

As for Bergevin having to prove himself, well he has, ask Molson, that's why he hired him. He wouldn't have been hired if Molson and (judging by the polls and comments on the board during the search)the large majority of the fans didn't think he was the man for the job. Don't make that comment anymore than it was.

The team is off to a good start. Pk is signed and happy. Bergevin has signed PK to a cheap deal and is happy. Pk will make Price-like money in two years and BG will be prepared for it...why the whining!?

You guys whine no matter what, pathetic.

lol. A buyout isn't only digits that appear on capgeek. Millions of bucks matter in the real world.

As Pierre McGuire would say: LARCENY

A steal for the Habs at this price. Can't believe Bergy got it done, definitely doing a good job so far as GM.. Should have never doubted him!
