This is such good news. I wish it was longer and the thought of PK becoming a UFA in 2 years scares the crap out of me but so happy he's back. I missed the conference call I hope it's posted someplace or is played on RDS again

He cannot be UFA in two years.

I will say this...that deal is only a good deal if the relations between both Subban and Bergevin are fine. If not and Subban go in Arbitration and then UFA right after....it was not a good deal. So fine for not eating that much money since the cap goes down and all next year....but pretty bad if Subban ends up walking in the near future. Let's hope Bergevin handles him the right way in the next contract....which should be renegotiated real soon actually....

Money makes all problems go away...and Subban will be getting something that starts with a "6" next time, so no resentment there.

I'm a Habs fans... But if I'm putting myself in the shoes of his agent, I would have told Subban not to sign the deal. In an free open market, he could have had 6-7+ M/season... I understand he's just an RFA with no arbitration rights, I don't think that means that Subban takes a bit more than 1/3 of his real market value on a two year deal.

Thank goodness you are just a Habs fan.;):D

he won't be. when the contract ends, he'll still be an rfa for two more years.

Bergevin, wow. This man is certainly the right man for this team. Molson should be very proud. He managed to resign PK at a very cheap price, and yet earned PK's respect and admiration. :handclap:

As for PK, I'm so so proud of him. I expect him to get even better, and I expect him to make Price-like money after this contract, and he'll deserve it. This team is in great shape.

the right man for the team?lol. we'll see.what if this blew up and we lost another quality player again?you telling me bergy couldn't get this done earlier?all of this for a million bucks?bergevin needs to prove himself too.

Why would PK sign that? He and around 90% of the city haver full confidence that in 4-6 years he's going to be well worth over 5 mil. Remember, he's banking on his future right now. If he has the leverage to ask for Doughty/Karlsson money, chances are he deserves it and should be paid it.

He wanted something thereabouts. I would hazard a guess for insurance or a middle ground compromise. In any event, my opinion stands on the contract. Divorced from that I'm delighted we have Subban back and this debacle is over for at least two years.

Yesterday: Bergevin is a fu****** moron!!! :madfire:

Tonight: Bergevin

This board is so bipolar... :naughty:
He's still a moron for how he handled this.

We're lucky PK was willing to stay and get ripped off. And like I said, it's going to be more expensive in the long run. You don't rip off your own guys and not pay for it sooner or later.

I'm getting you guys ready.

If you go on the main board, you basically have the thinking that Subban got jobbed and they can't believe that MB did this to him... I don't go that far. :)

To hell with the main board. Every one of those other teams fans wanted the Habs hamstrung with a high contract so that we could not make any moves during the offseason.

Glad you didnt.:)
