I mean they count... But GMs certainly aren't going to give a shit about them.

I think it's just you and this echo chamber that don't give a shit about them. There's the same 6 posters in every thread telling everyone the same things. The thing is it doesn't become more true just because you guys keep repeating them with unreal frequency. Do powerplay goals not count in game outcomes?

The internet plays hockey much different than we do in real life. The game isn't played on a spreadsheet and honestly thank God for that cause it would be unwatchable, it's unbearable to read.

Oh my is the denial ever real in here.

When Monahan returns a 1st round pick there will be some hefty servings of crow going around in here. Bad looks all around.

The fans whose team trades for him will be pissed off for all of about a day until they realize he's a damn good player worth every bit of a late first round pick.

It starts with a 1st rounder and blue chip prospect.

Monahan with the even strength game winner. First star of the game. Unfortunately he had 2 PP points so that obviously brings his value down. We all know the local experts and their spreadsheets don't value that.

Gonna need some serious mental gymnastics in here to hand wave this away. Let's hear it boys, you know who you are.

To all the Habs fans on here, don't listen to the other teams fans who don't watch Monahan much and evaluate him off of what they've heard.

He's a good player and I'm sure other teams GMs value them more than they do. If not, just resign him, I'd be happy to see him back since he always helps the young guys do well, I don't see the problem here.

Close enough because obviously, nobody is trading for Monahan to hand him a long term deal to retain him. That’s why teams will give 1st round picks for forwards at times. That and maybe for “elite” players who will be a core piece during their run.

That’s just not who Monahan is.

The good part is, we get to find out. I’ll be here to admit I’m wrong if that’s the case. Let’s see if you will be.

Well, this Habs fan does hope to see Monahan re-sign for 2-4yrs, so for some, that's exactly who he is.

The injury history is the only concern. His level of play & off ice attitude/behaviours are 100% what you want in place from a quality middle-6 vet. @29, if his recovery holds up, he'll be good for several years. His game is about skill, vision, positioning and effort, I wouldn't expect much drop off unless he can't play, in which case LTIR buffers it.

See you in a few weeks ;)

Looking at who's listed at center in the NHL stats, many guys are mostly wingers, he's probably closer to 35 instead of 40.

Points wise he's close to the top of the 2nd line center on par with Tavares while playing mostly with Armia/Anderson/Gallagher/Pearson. Put him with with reel talent and he's probably producing around 20-25 best ppg this season for center.

I hope he's back in MTL this summer.

And he's doing it on a team that's been without 2/3rds of their 2nd line and almost their entire 3rd line for months. Our wingers have been either a black hole for offense (Anderson/Gally) or an 19 year old just finding his way (Slaf) or AHL scraps. All with the exception of Caulfield who plays almost exclusively with Suzuki. And he's a killer FO guy and PK'er. If he was even just 2 years younger to be a better fit with our rebuild, I would not want to trade him. But I think we have to in light of our situation at this time.

Dreamer. Zero chance given his health history. The crow will be served on your plate
