Man I wish I had billions so I can buy MLSE and do it right by the Leafs and fire every jackass from the organization
Would like to see Elon step up and buy the Leafs and Jays and let MLSE keep the soccer and cfl team.

Not sure going full Harold Ballard is going to solve our problems though. Destructive house cleaning is worse and more damaging long term than mediocrity.

Depends how the "cleaning" is taking place.

incompetent, easily satisfied, stupid BS -> Out the door
competent, people who strive to be better, intelligent folks -> In the door

Quite frankly, whats happening under shanahan/dubas is actually ballard era...

except fans were frustrated with ballard because he was a cheap bastard and no team results
now fans are frustrated with shanahan/dubas because no cap left and no team results

under both ballard and shanahan/dubas leafs were a league wide JOKE

What has really changed?

“The refs screwed us”

Did I cover the entire Dubas excuse club bingo card or did I miss anything???
The latest: "how do you know Keefe is not better than the other coaches?"

I just LOLd after I saw that.

What if we get swept by the senators next year
Definitely possible, the Sens have far more grit than the Leafs.

if you need to ask that question, you clearly didn't experience the Ballard era.

Comparing Shanny/Dubas to the Ballard Era in anything other than playoff success is ludicrous. That ex-con treated the Leafs like a toy thing and really embarassed the Leafs organization with his shenanigans. From refusing deals that would help the Leafs (Dionne wanted to come here and he refused) to painting TigerCats at centre ice to putting transparent player names on the back of jerseys (and these aren't the most egregious doings--he wanted coach Neilson to come out with a paper bag on his head). Fun times but also very embarassing for a franchise.

I understand the disappointment, believe me...but the Leafs were really terrible back then and had very little talent. a Hart type 60 goal scorer leading us to a 115 point season was a far-off dream back then. Take my word for it. I lived it.

Oh I take your word for it, I lived throrugh it as well. I disagree that the team didn't have talent throughout Ballard's era. Sittler, Mcdonald, Turnbull, Salming, Palmateer were a very talented core. But, Ballard's meddling and stupidity didn't allow the team to take the next step. Stripping the C from Sittler, trading Mcdonald, hiring out-of-touch Imlach decimated a potentially strong team capable of winning the Cup in the late 70's.

Bringing in a puppet GM like Stellick, hiring a Neanderthal like Brophy, trading Courtnall for Kordic. To even approach that type of insanity Shanny would have to bring back JFJ Jr as GM,, hire Nick Beverly as coach, and trade Marner for Kassian.

fair enough, I meant the 80s up until the brief Gilmour resurgence, as I am too young for the 70s teams. that was a decent core but unless the late 70s habs team plane got redirected to the moon somehow they weren't winning anything. let's be honest.

I was on Long Island in 1978 when the Leafs beat, the soon to be a hockey dynasty, NY Islanders in 7 games. Winning 2 playoff series. So, say what you want about Harold Ballard, Jim Gregory and Roger Neilson but they accomplished what the current Leaf team has failed to do. In my mind, that makes the current edition of MLSE a lot worse than that of the Ballard era.

Can't fire Dubas because we once had Nonis as the GM.

Not to mention those god awful 80s teams managed to win a couple of rounds in the playoffs. Yes I know 16 of 21 teams made the playoffs before the SJ/Tampa/Ottawa expansion.
