I know it didn't matter in the end, but what is the logic in pinch running Almora for Smith (the winning run) as opposed to Alonso (the tying run)? Wouldn't you want Almora on second trying to score on a hit rather than Pete, who in addition to being slow, is just a bad runner in general? I didn't understand that. And then if you end up in extras you just shift Smith to 1B and configure your OF however.
