Mets to allow full capacity at CitiField beginning Monday.

Was there for the Saturday game against the Padres. Was great to get out to the park again. Entry was pretty easy, even with the vaccination card requirements. No mask once you got past that. Felt like a nice slice of normalcy.

Definitely could have been done sooner with what we know about COVID. Outdoors is the best place to be, even if you are right next to someone. We saw it last summer with no vaccine and an inordinate amount of people next to one another. I'd have asked for masks to be required for everyone at that point, but the outdoors is the one place people can assemble and the concern of being exposed and contracting COVID plummets. It made tons of sense for indoor venues though. We needed restrictions there.

its not nonsense. There was no massive outbreak after the rangers games like the crazies wanted u to believe. none.
And u know why? Because covid doesnt transmit well outdoors. The science is clear. Try following it.

its not the same as oh, putting covid patients in at nursing homes. But yeah follow this dipshit of a governer

I see the ramblings of a madman, here, and nothing more.

There are still 12 or more teams operating with limited capacity all over the country, in both red and blue states. Most teams were limited to start. Nothing wrong with operating conservatively. It's better IMO to be overly cautious than not. I don't know why it needs to be an issue. Things are getting back to normal even if it's slower than ideal.

what did i say that was untrue?

Was there a massive outbreak after the Rangers played at full capacity? No there was not.

Did fauci day that outdoor transmission was very low. Yes

It looks like u are in denial. Or maybe dont want to return to normalcy. I dont know nor do i care.

we were overly cautious for a full year. Time to open shit back up. Especially outdoors.

Shit peaked less than six months ago but yeah LOL it's been a year that we've been overly cautious. Whatever man.

yes such as the constant cleaning of surfaces was found not to do much and was overly cautious in the end. Not saying we shouldnt have, but many things we did in the beginning were found to have no effect. That is being overly cautios. Shutting schools down was overly cautious. Especially after studies in europe said transmission was very low amongst students and it was usually the teachers who introduced the virus not the students. And again, schools in my area of long island were open the entire year with minimal cases. So yes we have been overly cautious and not following science. But rather following politics.

its why china is back at the center again but was dismissed earlier. Politics.

Bc it doesnt fit your narrative. If u had a good response with proof i hope u would of shares it. But yeah u dont bc what i said about the rangers and outdoor transmission is completely accurate.
You're the one bringing politics into a baseball thread. And it's not like you presented your cases with any evidence either.

was there a big outbreak after the rangers started yhe season with full capacity? No. There is some proof. U wont find any articles about there not being one, bc nobody would write about nothing. However if there there was one, espn or other news outlets would have been all over it. Just like there was articles written criticizing trxas.

And that was before the vaccine was widely distributed.

its all politics at this point.

Not to get too OT but this is plain old CYA. Teams and states don't want to face lawsuits from ppl or SM rants about lack of safety, and so they acted extra conservatively the past few months despite some data indicating it wasn't necessary. Very often the science is 'adjusted' with more data, so most ppl and orgs locally chose to act cautiously versus cavalierly. Cautious = Democrat, Cavalier = Republican? That's a pretty broad stroke your painting with. Yes, Texas was fine, but if NY had chosen that route and suffered problems you can bet there would be lawsuits and Canceling in SM so they chose conservative. It's become so clear now that even the most cautious feel comfortable to open up, nothing really wrong with that.

COVID has become very politically charged but your seeing ghosts here bringing politics up with baseball teams delaying full capacity opening.

I feel like he should still sit out a start. Although I don't know if pitching in fits and starts is good for him, either.

Maybe throwing his fastball a few mph slower with a few less sliders will help? Seems overkill- "if he's healthy let er rip!" but at this point you do anything to keep him on the field without any twinges or pulls. Also swinging the bat can't be great for staying healthy...

That seems to be the prevailing theory at this point--that there is only so much the human arm (and related parts) can take. deGrom is uncharted territory in terms of velocity and load.

What's amazing is that given his velocity, it's reasonable to think he may be overthrowing at times. But how do you overthrow and still paint the corners like Maddux? It really is uncharted territory, and it almost feels like the eventual resolution will be that he'll have to learn to go 95% just to preserve himself. Who knows, though.

Jake's mechanics are so efficient and effortless. It's nuts how someone can throw that hard and yet have no violence in their delivery.

I don't know if you've ever seen his release point graphs from baseball savant but the guy lets his pitches leave his fingers from virtually the same spot every single time like some godless machine

If it ultimately comes to having to make some kind of change I trust deGrom will figure it out. The dude seems to be extremely perceptive about what he is capable of.

Yeah it is astonishing. I posted the GIF several pages back of him throwing the heater superimposed over him throwing the slider. His delivery was almost completely identical, release point was identical, and even the path of the pitch was identical for the first 30 feet. Then the slider dropped two feet and the fastball looked like it somehow broke upward.

I hope the Mets batting practice pitcher dialed it back today to prep the guys for Hendricks.

deGrom is baseball’s Tom Brady in this regard.

Its kind of amazing how many players dont know how to run bases.

There are no fundamentals to baseball anymore. So sad to see.

all about bat angles, exit velocity and other crap.

Bring back .333 hitters, guys who steals 50 bases guys who strikeouts less than 40 times a season. Please i beg u.

Enough with the destruction of a great sport.
