I know I know I know...you and others finally got to me...you happy cause I don't like to admit defeat and that I'm wrong...lol
Not "happy" as you put it....but I knew once you looked past the "shiny new toy" aspect, you'd see what a complete nut job he is.

If you look back at those players, they all had one thing in common: they were complete athletes....no one "specialized"...that was the only way you could survive in the major leagues.....we will never see the likes of those guys again.

Now the sport is just an HGH fueled HR derby.

Bauer is petty, immature, and IMO pretty toxic. Him and his agent. I just don't want anything to do with any of that. I've tried not to wade into it, but there it is.

And that's ignoring the fact that I'm not sold his performance is fully repeatable.

News of Hank Aaron got me thinking. His longevity was incredible and he was just an all around great MLB player. He wasn’t just a homerun hitter.

With that said, if you could start a franchise with any MLB player from the history of the game, regardless of position, who would you choose? Curious to hear some of the answers. I’ll provide mine in a bit.

I do believe if it was just one player...offense, defense, speed, arm, glove, bat, power to all fields....everything...the works, I'm going with Junior....Ken Griffey Jr.....greatest ball player I've ever seen with my two eyes to be the anchor of my team!

Mickey Mantle and i wouldnt think twice. The only other player I would consider is Ruth. And that is because Ruth hit more HRs in a season than entire teams. In fact between 1918 and 1932 there was only 1 season where he didnt hit more HRs than another team.

for pitchers it would be koufax.

I won't try and pick a guy I never saw play so for me Griffey in Seattle was unreal. Injuries got him before he could stack the records but he had it all.

When it comes to pitchers my favorite will always be Boston Pedro. Never seen anyone have such a difference in MPH between fastball and changeup and it be so effective. Maddux is a close 2nd. Both of those guys made it fun to watch a pitcher.

After seeing how the Mets blew their World Series opportunity in 2015 and countless other deGrom gems go to waste since, I'd take Mariano Rivera.
