OT: MLB Thread XLI: Dog Days

Yeah, once Wilson completed the batter they should have gone immediately to Lugo. I know they wouldn’t have liked burning both of their only guys they can trust in 1 inning but you need to try and get out of the inning there and worry about the 9th when it comes.

Just back from a long day of bday partying and celebrating. All I wanted for my bday as I mentioned yesterday was:

Be around family and friends with no drama.......Check
Both my big $$ fantasy teams win even tho I was going against Maholmes in both leagues......Check
Mets win Saturday....Check....thank you Rajai
Mets win Sunday....NOPE
Jets win Monday Nite...TBD

As far as the Mets it would defy logic now to think they in order to still have a realistic shot at the WC that they will not lose more than 2 more games...3 MAX rest of the season. It certainly appears this "Lazarus" act or "Rising of the Phoenix" antics the Mets have pulled over past month has run it's course. It's likely not happening.

It's been fun...team showed alot of heart and resilience but when you play like shit for 4 months of the season, it doesn't leave much room for error even if you start to play stellar baseball as the Mets have done since the all-star break.

Proud of the team and there are some very nice pieces and a solid core. A little tinkering from by Brodie in offseason combined with us not being so shitty for long stretches like this one, Mets should be right there in the conversation again for a playoff spot next year.

I'm actually not mad about what happened tonight...a bit dissapointed for sure seeing we had the game once again in the palm of our hands but in totality, I knew the odds were stacked against us. I have no doubt this team will keep fighting and it wouldn't be surprising if they got this down to 3 games again but now there are too many teams ahead of us with too little time left.

So when is my fantasy hockey draft and when do the Rangers start playing exhibition games? Oh yeah...next week...awesome....lol
 
Will Smith and Craig Stammen are free agents. Mets should pursue both of them.

They should also chase Anthony Rendon.

JD Davis isn't an every day player.

Love J.D. but.....and this is a big but......if there were any way we could get Rendon.......I would do it tomorrow.
He is a PURE hitter and a really good old fashioned ball player.
That said......you KEEP J.D. on this team and whatever small misgivings he has in the field. A whole off season to work on it.
 
That game really hurt me. A really great team opportunity to feel especially good about themselves. Did you see the disappointment in Pete's face in dugout? Killed me.

When push comes to shove, you had better believe the Dodgers wanted to win and lessen whatever chance the Mets had. Like I had said probably 2-3 weeks ago, the Dodgers want NO PART of the Mets, and was confirmed last night by crappy crew.
Although I do like A-Rod's insight, he isnt that bad like some say.

He shouldn't play outfield. No amount of off-season work will make his range passable.

What a terrible read and tracking of that ball that he allowed to go to the wall, and then not being able to come in on that pop fly later on.

Fangraphs has us down from the 16.4% we were before the Dodger series to 7.8 whereas Cubs are at 72.9 and Brewers 35.8....we are as close to done as you can be.

At this point, it would take a minor miracle if the Mets even had a mathematical chance before that final 7 home game stand to end the season vs Miami and Atlanta. Heck of a ride tho and alot of fun while it lasted ...not even mad!

That fat lady chick...well she's clearing her throat right about now and about to belt out a tune real soon as in by tomorrow in honor of the Metropolitans.

Encouraging start for Sevy. Not sure if this means he'll start or be part of a bullpen game.
 
Did anyone take the 20 minutes out of their lives to watch that video of the Mets and Yankees I posted right above here? If not, your making a mistake...it needs to be viewed.

Would your pal Maxie make you waste your time? I rest my case...lol
