of course teams are going to ask. why wouldn't they? they ask knowing the yankees will say no, but then potentially end up with a better player than if they started by asking for something they thought was realistic and then negotiating down from there

Star lefty? A career 4.87 ERA in a pitcher's ballpark. Currently on a streak of 6 starts in a row giving up 4 ER or more. How about he's a below average starter and I wouldn't even want him on the Yankees at all, let alone at that absurd price?

Star is a stretch but he's a very good player. Career high K/9 and career low BB%.

Exactly.
 
Paxton is like AJ Burnett all over again. Hopefully he figures it out and performs better in the post season than AJB did
