Watching Bour bragging after his round and then seeing Judge beat him was pretty badass by Judge. I mean he actually had a HR invalidated and still beat him. One of the most badass things Ive ever seen in baseball.

Before the derby, they were talking about how hard it is to hit homers in the ball park, not the toughest, but not a band box either.

Judge hit a good 30% of his homers to RF.

Dude sprayed the ball park like it was his.

Also love that Gary took out Stanton

Bragg? It's just a guy having fun with home crowd.

I didn't have a problem with Bour trying to get the crowd into it :dunno:

My parents have some family friends that grew up watching Mickey. They've all said this kid is the real deal. With Mick, when he was coming up for an AB, no one left their seat, no one left the radio. You felt it in your gut, it was personal, he was like a God sent from Mt Olympus to the fans. His ABs were personal. They feel the same with Judge and can't believe they are alive to see what is essentially, the second player of Micks ilk to be a Yankee. If Judge could switch hit and run as fast as Mick, he'd break every record that exists. Baseball should be thankful he can't I think. LOL

Wow, that's very telling. He's already got an aura about him and it's only his rookie season

FWIW, I haven't given a **** about baseball for about twenty years but I tuned in to watch the Derby last night. That kid's effortless power really is something to behold.

I haven't watched Yankee games faithfully until middle of August for my entire life. I mean c'mon, standings never matter in our conference until the 2nd half, it's the way it's always been. Until this year. Judge makes every game, even when getting their butts kicked, 'must watch tv' just to see his AB's. Each AB has potential historical significance to it. I wasn't alive to watch our previous legends. I am so thankful I am alive for this one. I can't wait for his 2nd half to be much the same as his 1st half and to watch all these supposed baseball writers eat crow over their articles as recent as today claiming he will fall from grace.

He wasn't even giving max effort. The other guys were all gassed by the semi-finals. Judge was still cruising along.

Do any of you guys play fantasy baseball? Where was Judge drafted this year? Was this expected?

People knew about his power, not all that disimiliar from say Joey Gallo from the standpoint of raw power. That being said, Judge has clearly figured out the hit tool as well now. His mlb hitting is exceeding any of his minor league hitting regarding average and such. Something just seems to have clicked for the kid.

I think by the end of next year you will have a better feel on if he is playing a little over his head (average/contact wise). I know that sounds a bit nuts, but some guys come in and mash while playing above their previous stats and what their tools showed. Sometimes something has just clicked for them, and sometimes they do regress as the league figures them out a bit. Regardless, he is a great talent...

Mets fans must kick themselves every time they see Daniel Murphy.

Honestly, who expected Murphy to become one the best players in the league out of absolutely nowhere at 31?

I mean virtually all of his offensive numbers have gone hypernova since he joined Washington.

I definitely didn't, but some people were saying that his 2015 postseason was an adjustment he made and not just a hot streak.

It turned into an adjustment, and not a hot streak.

Both Turner and Murphy, what can you do. Murphy at least had the postseason run which potentially foreshadowed his breakout. Turner was a good bench player with the Mets. Can't really kill yourself over either though since they were both so unlikely.

Aaron Judge makes around major league minimum and doesn't become a UFA for 5 years and isn't even arbitration eligible until after the 2019 season. The MLB commissioner says he can be the face of the game but how will the Yankees treat him after this season?

In regards to what?

Luckily for the Yankees that's a little while down the road. The arbitration process won't be too bad in my opinion.
I know. But the Yanks can basically pay Judge anything they want for the next 2 years. What happened to Fowler (and Harvey to some extent) must be in the back of his mind. Does he have any leverage at all?

He will likely get the higher side of the arbitration amounts, but the Yankees will still have him cost controlled relative to his production level which is the most important thing for them right now.
