f*** the DH.

Comparing OPS+ between pitchers and positions players is ridiculous. Obviously it’s going to look garbage.

The pitchers people bring up DO hit at an MLB level. For pitchers. Their level is overall lower.

Well at least you're admitting that you just like to watch guys hit that are garbage at hitting. I'm not here to kink shame.
No, I like to watch baseball players bat, and pitchers are baseball players. It just so happens that almost all of them suck. But there’s a lot of excitement when they got on base or got an RBI.

The nonsense started when both leagues were no longer in sync, so the AL always had an advantage in signing an extra bat.

Let me double down on the Golden At-Bat idea. Instead of an established DH, you get to choose the hitter each time for the pitcher's spot in the batting order. It could already be someone in the lineup, but limited to one time. So, Tyrone Taylor just struck out as the 8th batter, you can have him stay in the box to strike out again as the 9th hitter. But once he does that, he is no longer eligible to do another Golden At-bat.

I have a better idea: Bartolo Colon just hits every at-bat.

Everyone else in the league just runs, pitches, and fields.

Count me in as anti-DH. And before some dudes accuse me of being an old man yelling at clouds, I actually would make all NFL players play both ways, offense and defense so your insults do not effect me.

In other news Rugby Union is a superior sport to football.

Lez go REAL crazy!

Only your starting 9 fielders can play the field, no backups, no bull pen. Unless there’s an injury, in which case you must sit out a minimum of X games to prevent fake injuries. So your starter goes as long as possible, then your back up pitchers who were previously playing the field then need to leave their other positions (first base or whatever) to take over, and your starter then continues as a fielder.

but keep the DH lol

The As signing any free agent is earth shattering news.

Thanks for the great season Sevy, he'll get a nice cheer the next time he comes to Citi Field.

New ownership, new city, no?

I always thought that they missed the boat when making the NL switch to dh.

I would have liked to have seen a hybrid done to bring the AL game to the NL and the NL game to the AL.

DH in your lineup until you pull the starter. Then either the reliever hits or u start pinch hitting, using the bench and double switches.

Would even allow them to expand roster by 1 fielder (not pitcher).

So having a good bench and manager becomes more critical.

This is fun.

It brings some of the strategy elements and cuts down significantly on having to watch high schoolers hit.

It would also disincentivize modern managers going to the bullpen every two nanoseconds as they're prone to do.

Wow he really dipped from the Yankees?

Was their offer that much below the Mets or was it something else a factor

Ton of pressure on Soto now, but he's always performed at an elite level.

Going to little brother. Yankee fans gonna hate him forever.

Wait...5M (.6% of total contract value) and 1 less year was really it?

I don't buy it.
I imagine that the fact the Mets spend like crazy now and have sterns weighed against cashman and hal acting like he's broke came into play as well. Yankees aren't the go for it team that they were in the past. They even talked about cutting payroll ha
