I wouldn't ward off any prospects, but Torres is untouchable for Scherzer or any other arm that would be available.

WAR already accounts for that by measuring value in wins and Severino is objectively a more valuable player.

Back to back 5.5+ WAR seasons. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy.

He's been great, but aside from WAR being a flawed statistic and its hard to really equate WAR between a pitcher and a position player.

Andujar and Frazier are crap defensively, so I wouldn't fret over losing them. Give them those 2 and our best five prospects for Scherzer.

But I feel like the Yankees are in a weird position where everyone will ask for Torres and then take their football and go home when it isn't happening. That's what Pittsburgh did in the Cole trade. (And no, I would not have included Torres in that trade)

I would absolutely unequivocally not trade Torres for anyone. It would be a massive mistake.

We dont have to worry about this as the Yankees have other pieces to make the deal happen.
