Judge also went 0-4.Happy both are in aaa. They are close.Fraziers time with us is dwindling down it seems.
While I agree we should not be trading 7 pieces (not even more than 4 pieces) for any one pitcher, the long game is absolutely f***ing irrelevant. It is about winning a World Series right now. We want one. We are equipped to make a run. The window is open now. You dont plan for 3-5 years from now hoping the window will still be open. So many factors from now until then could shut the window, i.e., injuries, contracts, age, etc.Moves like that kill your minors in the long run,for short term gain.
Those 2 honestly don't have much value.I think Washington would accept a deal for Scherzer with Andujar and Frazier headlining. I honestly don't think that too many more pieces would be needed.
Ride Urshella until he stops being good and then figure it out.
Infielders aren't exactly a chore to acquire. Legit aces are.
Ok forget Torres, I would take Frazier and Andujar to DC in a f***ing rickshaw.I think Washington would accept a deal for Scherzer with Andujar and Frazier headlining. I honestly don't think that too many more pieces would be needed.
Ok forget Torres, I would take Frazier and Andujar to DC in a ****ing rickshaw.
We don't need anyone up the middle. At the corners, sure.
Up the middle? Not so much. The league isn't exactly littered with high 8/low 900 OPS MIFs.
He isn't a guy with some upside who hasn't tapped into it, he's already performing at a high level.
The Astros didn't give up a Gleyber Torres for Verlander.
We don't need anyone up the middle.
We would need a new 3B after DJ becomes full time 2B.
Andujar is risky but still would hold pretty high value. He has team control for quite a few more years. Frazier wouldn't be dealt at his peak value but is still a valuable piece. Those 2 honestly don't have much value.
We might have to downgrade somewhere to get what we need.DJ's value is in his versatility.
But its not about "needing" anyone up the middle, over a season, DJ is a substantial downgrade from Torres.
Andujar is risky but still would hold pretty high value. He has team control for quite a few more years. Frazier wouldn't be dealt at his peak value but is still a valuable piece.
I understand that Scherzer is still one of the best pitchers in the game, but at what point does his contract impact his value? He signed a deferred contract meaning that whoever acquires him would have to pay him $15 million for 12 more years after this one. That's a lot of dough for a team not named the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers.
Scherzer to the Yankees makes too much sense. If need be, I'd add another good to decent prospect or two to get the deal done. Cashman needs to stop hugging prospects and go for the jugular this year. The rest of the AL is looking pretty uninspiring, honestly.
We might have to downgrade somewhere to get what we need.
We're simply not good enough right now.
If Scherzer doesn't move, who would you target?Right, and moving Gleyber would do nothing to push the needle in the other direction.
But like Crow said, it wouldn't take a Torres. They can make a competitive offer with out him. He's owed a ton of money and even if they headline a deal with Frazier and Andujar, those guys are young guys who have made it to the majors. They hold more value than kids in A ball unless we're talking about the elite of the elite, who most teams aren't going to move anyway.
He probably doesn't move anyway.
If Scherzer doesn't move, who would you target?
Bumgarner and bank on him pitching better in a competitive environment.
At the very least, we know that he's done it before.
Up until a few weeks ago this would be my answer too, but now I'm not so sure. I'd pass. He looks cooked.
Andujar. LeMahieu has been a revelation.
I'll agree that Torres is a good but not great talent. I'd like to see him hit for contact more, but he's a passable fielder and is a good lower of the order hitter to have. Perennial all star? Not likely, but he'll make a couple in his career.
Andujar is a liability in the field and just sustained a major injury. Even when healthy, he's redundant relative to what the team already has in spades. This would be a good time to get good value for him. Scherzer is a guy I'd be ok with losing a talent like Andujar over.
I think Washington would accept a deal for Scherzer with Andujar and Frazier headlining. I honestly don't think that too many more pieces would be needed.
