Why are the Yankees trading the farm for soon to be 35 year old Scherzer? He wont be a front line starter in another year or so.

eventually he has to slow down but people said the same thing when the nationals signed him at 29 and he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball since then...

He's completely bucked the trend his entire career.

He was too small to start, he couldn't hold his stuff, his mechanics are bad.

All these things are true, yet he keeps on doing his thing.

I like the Volpe pick.

Pinstripe Alley had him and two other potential picks listed from baseball minds around the league. Keep restocking the farm to always stay competitive.

But I also believe at some point you use some assets to make the all in move and Scherzer is it for me. He still very much can bring it at a high level. You saw it in his last start. Guy is a gamer. He wants to win. He wasnt available before this year.

We passed on Verlander two years ago and it cost us. Well maybe we didnt pass on him but we certainly didnt get him. Scherzer is better than Verlander and would thrive here with this bullpen behind him.

Scherzer or Strasburg for me. Strasburg’s health concerns me.

I dont know what the landscape of the salary really looks like moving forward or if they could make it happen, but if you like Keuchel you sign him but then if Scherzer becomes available? You find a way to get him here too. Go over the luxury tax i dont care. Include German in the deal. Whatever you need to do. Include other prospects.

Yankees select a hefty lefty with their 38th pick. Throws 93-95 and pitched in all roles this year. Could be a starter or end up a reliever. He is aggressive, attacks the zone. 20 years old. Probably 2-3 years away from having an impact.

The MLB draft is so f***ing weird that you can't even speculate, but I see reasons to be optimistic with both guys.

I could see the Yankees taking Leiter if he is still there at 67 but I doubt he will be.

If the Yanks want Keuchel I think he is coming here.

If they decide they would rather wait to see who becomes available via trade then they will hang around Keuchel to drive up the price.

Not so sure. There's few good landing spots for him.
While I agree, if money is similar I dont see him choosing Milwaukee or Minnesota over NY. Although Minnesota is a good park to pitch in.

I do feel like he would love to stick it to Houston. And I think best path to do so is through NY.
