Absolutely did not want CC back. This tells me Sheffield or the other kids won't be in the rotation. They will trade and sign two starters. Otherwise, CC and a young pitcher/s does not upgrade your rotation.

Don't like that. Sheffield or German could give you similar production to CC but with upside.

This x100. Those two will give you similar production over the course of the season as the 5th starter. There was zero need to bring CC back at $8 million. If CC isnt hitting his spots perfectly especially with that slider, then he is a disaster. And he certainly cant hold runners on.

They'll still get plenty of starts with CC and Tanaka's inevitable injuries/fatigue.

It's as if injuries never happen. This team had a mouthbreather like Cessa getting regular starts at some stretches during the season. Color me not upset about bringing CC back for another year. If for nothing else, his games against the Rays will be entertaining.

You can never have enough pitching. Guys always get injured.

Agreed. He's come up big for us in key spots ('09 and last year). Can't hurt to have some insurance

Might be my favorite Yankee of the last decade. He's had his issues, but you can tell he puts it all out there every game and loves playing for the team

- Hicks for Carrasco (Win-Win for both teams)
- Try to get Paxton without parting with Andujar, Torres or Sheffield (Last is unlikely)

I would be happy if these were the moves for the offseason.

Good luck getting Carrasco with Hicks.

This tells me that Sheffield is going to be used as a trade chip.

Yeah that's my conclusion too.

If we are trading for Kluber or Paxton safe to say Sheffield's name would be #2 on those team's wish lists (after Gleyber).

I would take Paxton over Corbin. I don't trust NL pitchers unless their elite. Plus Corbin will get paid like a number 1/2.

And the Yankees are not trading Torres. I don't know why his name across forums keeps coming up. He's no longer a prospect and he's their starting second baseman and likely SS while Didi is hurt and after the Yankees probably choose not to re-sign Didi.

If Manny is dying to be a Yankee, let him come here for a bit less.

Hoping they could get Carrasco and Paxton for some combo Sheffield, Frazier, Abreu, Adams, Medina, Loaisiga.

I know Andujar will be gone in one of these trades but I'm not a fan of trading him for 30+ year old pitchers.

What's funny is, they could of traded last off season for 27 y/0 Gerrit Cole.

I want both. We need more lefties in the rotation. Makes the short porch in right field less of an issue.

Completely agree about Torres. He's not going anywhere, and I'm sure teams are smart enough to not continue asking. Yankees have one of the deepest farms in Baseball still, more than good enough to land one of these pitchers without involving Torres in these rumors.

Andujar is more likely to be traded, 1) his defense is still a concern 2) Machado can come in and play 3rd if the Yankees decide to go that route. Don't think he needs to be involved either if the Yankees are only focused on one of Paxton/Carrasco/Kluber in combination with a Corbin. If they're swinging for the fences and trying for one of the Indians guys and Paxton, then yeah, that's different. Frazier's concussion problems aren't going to boost his value and Adams down season probably makes most teams consider him a reliever if they hadn't already.

Going to be very interesting. If the Yankees just go Corbin and bring back Happ as their "two more starters", I'm going to be very disappointed. In my mind, they choose C.C. over Happ and they need to get serious upgrades now. They missed on Cole last winter, Cashman can't miss out again. It's rare to have so many high quality pitchers seemingly available like this. Gotta pounce.

That quote about getting him for less than is being asked should make people nervous, if they really want Paxton anyway. I feel like you take the approach that you can wait until the price goes down, and then, shit, someone else meets the price and you've missed out.

Kluber and Corbin should be the first choices imo. I dont want to see two trades handing over assets and if i had to choose between two Kluber and Paxton, I take Kluber who already has post season experience let alone being the better pitcher. Corbin will only cost money. Didnt Paxton miss some time last year with injury? Just curious.

Also not liking being out on Harper. Right now im leaning toward him over Machado. Machado’s knees worry me. He doesnt hustle. Buster Olney was saying today on TMKS that a lot of executives/FOs dont think Machado is into the game all the time, that he seems to not care. A lot of red flags.

Sign Miller. Sign Britton if you can.
