Yankees won't go after Harper or Machado IMO. Pitching is priority #1, 2 and 3.

I hope you're right.

It doesn't make sense to throw 400 mill at Harper or Machado with Stanton on the books unless they know he's opting out down the track (I'm pretty sure he has an opt out) and with looming contracts for Judge, Sanchez and Sevy. Yankees do have a budget.

I really hope Stanton opts out. His contract is a joke.

Stanton will be better this upcoming year.

I still want one of Machado/Harper. 26 years old. I want to bury the Red Sox next year

I can see why you would. 2 great players just entering their primes. Just don't complain when we are down 1 run and Machado doesn't hussle haha

I prefer Harper of the two. Nats told him to take it easy on running so hard in the past couple years because he was too important to the team to risk injury. Wouldnt be an issue here and he is a lefty bat which we definitely need. Youre getting a great player at 26, you have the money, you just dont pass up on that.

But i agree Pitching is the first priority. The yankees shouldnt be making the initial offers on Harper/Machado anyway because their agents are going to circle back to the yankees anyway...and quite frankly i think they will get less than they hoped

I'm torn on who I'd take between Harper and Machado. Harper is a lefty slugger who would benefit from short porch in RF and add a slugging lefty to a righty dominant lineup. Machado on the other hand is a guy you plug at hot corner and he'll give you elite offensive production while playing Gold Glove type defense. Downside to it is that he's a righty.

Yankees need a new approach at the plate... Mochado won't fix that. It's tempting, but if it comes at the expense of a premium pitcher I'd be ticked

I think I'd also we worried with personalities clashing... Judge is the leader of this team and has set a specific tone that the team seems to identify with. Mochado's "quirkiness" might undermine that

Curious to see if the Yankees take the bait

I doubt it. He looked completely lost at the plate for a significant portion of the season. His at bats were often embarrassing in big spots. I don't think he can handle the pressure.

I really disagree.. after the first month his numbers started to jump. He also stopped chasing pitches down and away. His discipline was significantly better. I think you, as many of us do, have the Red Sox series burned too deep right now. Stanton hit one out against Oakland regardless of the score at the time. But it was still his first playoff appearance and the first real “series” he plays in is against Boston. It aint easy. Goes way beyond a physical thing...it is way more mental and something you cannot prepare for until youve experienced.

He will be better. He has handled NY better than many, many other superstars.

Harper is just a gamer imo. He plays so hard and wants to win. I think the personalities of Judge and Didi along with CC and Gardner will help keep his emotions from running high. We desperately need a lefty bat. I agree with Boras in that I dont believe the Yankees. They said they were out on Tex too as Boras pointed to. Boras doesnt like his players to sign right away so we have time to decide the pitching first and then focus on one of the two stars. This should also keep Manny waiting around too

Also; doesnt Manny Machado have that Manny Ramirez feel to him...incredible, incredible bat with a laissez faire attitude.

That's the obvious comparison, but Ramirez was on another level altogether so the laissez faire thingy was a little easier to dismiss.

The Yankees cannot afford another $300m contract.
