People need to actually pay attention to the farm system, instead of listening to some beat reporter that has never seen any of these guys play.
While the Killer B's were hyped, I never expected Betances to really work out. He has the stuff but his height was a huge factor, and still is. Brackman was a reach at the time. He was always a boom or bust. Another tall pitcher. The Yankees wanted Porcello but the Tigers took him the pick or two before.
Manny Banuelos is 22 and coming off TJS. Contrary to NY radio host and beat reporters say, he's far from a bust.

How exactly does one pay attention to the farm system? You can look at stats, and read reports. I don't think there are too many of us frequenting double AA, and triple AAA games.

The bottom line are the results... and we haven't had any.

I'll say this, sometimes I think Cashman is a real moron. And sometimes he is.

But I go through these seasons with the Rangers and I'm just thankful he's not Glen Sather.

Beltran gets a no trade clause.

boy am I shocked :sarcasm:

Honestly, contracts don't ever effect the yankees, so i don't really care. Outside of A-Rods of course.

The yankees have eaten so many bad contracts it's fascinating. Pavano, Igawa, etc. That never stops them from getting their man.

I know, I just wish they would stop handing them out like candy.

Yeah, Mccann is not the best C in baseball, but he's definitely top 5

Agree.

Yadier, Posey, Salvador Perez are catchers I'd take over McCann. Maybe Russell Martin. Carlos Santana is very good offensively but below average defensively. Mauer is moving to 1B.

Yup Manny is far from a bust.

Also Betances has been excellent since going to pen full time. I think he'll be vital for us coming out of the pen. His rotation days are over.

Yup Brackman was a reach. He was a huge boom or bust type of pick. He busted. Oh well.

Jason Castro's probably better going forward too.

It's now going on 36 hours and the Yankees have not made another move yet.. is Cashman sleeping or rappling down buildings again? :sarcasm:

anyway...

After their own Freaky Friday of sorts, the Yankees were back at work Saturday trying, as GM Brian Cashman put it, “to improve our club.
“I’ve got work to do,” Cashman added. “I need a starter, bullpen, second base. We’ve still got work.”

Id imagine Infante is next for 2B. Dont ask me where hes going to find pitching. Theres none out there.

Hope not, Halladay is shot. His average FB velocity was around 88 last season.

What's the worst that happens, they eat maybe 5 or 6 million.

We've seen guys lose velocity and have to adapt. I'm hoping that CC will do it this year. Guys like Cone, Mussina and to a lesser extent, Freddy Garcia, Bartolo Colon, etc have lost velocity and learned to become gamers.

Halladay was always a smart pitcher and I'd have faith that he could be a smart enough pitcher to get 12-16 wins under the yanks offense.

He also knows the AL east well.

According to a source Tanaka will likely be posted if he wants to be

The highest paid player in NPB makes under 6 million per year.

If Tanaka comes to the US, there is chatter he will get 100 million over 5 years. I've learned to not doubt the speculations on massive, unnecessary contracts.

That said, even if he doesn't get 20 million per year, he's going to easily get 10 over 5.

For a 24 year old, I highly doubt he'd pass up the opportunity to come here and cash in for a handful of years. He and everyone else KNOWS that he's going to get paid handsomely based on his season last year.

If it's up to him, he'll be in the MLB. And by my hopes, he'll be a yankee at any cost.

IA with everything here.. especially the last point.. We need to go ALL IN!

Apparently the Yankees are interested in bring back Ibanez. Are they going to field an all OF/DH lineup?

https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/409756729157484544

OF: Ichiro
OF: Ellsbury
OF: Gardner
DH: Soriano
DH: Wells
DH: Beltran
DH: Ibanez
DH: ???
DH: ???

Come on just add another two. An empty infield can't be that much worse than playing age 40 Jeter at shorstop. I demand to be entertained.
