Yep, chase the money and go to a **** team like Seattle. Have fun

So Cano gets 10 years and $240M. From Seattle. The team that "walked away" from negotiations after Jay-Z had the nerve to demand more. What a ****ing clown that guy is. Cano ought to be embarrassed, signing for a contract so far below market value.

:sarcasm:

Im not a Yanks fan BUT i would have rather bite the bullet on cano instead of giving ellsbury that deal. look i agree 10 years for cano is crazy BUT he is 10 times a better player tahn ellsbury. I like the Mccann deal for the Yanks but Cano was their best player. They better get pitching. As a met fan our only positive is pitching so we need bats

Does anyone else want him at 10/240?

They paid at least a 20% premium if not more.

I wanted him back but not for that.

One has nothing to do with the other. If the Yankees wanted Cano for 10/240, he would be here.

They learned from the Arod contact.

Is Cano worth a $90million bullet?

Time will tell

Yikes, no way were the Yanks going to match that.

Still sucks to lose him because now there's a massive hole at 2B, and he was best homegrown talent that Cashman developed. Maybe if we're lucky Cashman will draft another Phil Hughes with the compensatory pick :sarcasm:

Jay-Z obviously doesn't have the experience and sports-related connections of someone like Scott Boras, but he's ****ing Jay-Z! He's one of, if not the singlest most influential power brokers in the entertainment industry. Why wouldn't he be able to find success in sports? He has more money than god, any connection or influence he lacks can be addressed with a few phone calls. And we understand it's not just him representing his clients, right? He almost certainly has an army of well-paid, well-connected, extremely bright people on his team.

I don't know how anyone could think signing with Jay-Z's agency would be a bad thing. Even if you're leaving Boras for him. At worst, it's a lateral move. And beyond the contract he helps you sign, being associated with him opens up so many new marketing opportunities.

I'm sure Cano is pretty pleased with the job Jay-Z and his team just did.

No 3B
No 2B
Meh farm system

Desperately need starting pitching

Cashman better pull a Sather-esque trade or Steinbrenner gonna be real pissed in October

Yankees are paying for the Arod contract. Angels are paying for the Pujols contract. Signing a player over 30 to 10 years is absurd.
Ellsbury is a bad contract but it's not 10 years.

Glad the Yankees didn't cave.

yankees were told cano would not take less than his highest offer to stay, he chased the money. nothing wrong with that, but u guys all know I love Cano, but im not touching 240 over 10

I agree with most of this but saying

Boras to Jay Z = sideways move AT WORST?

Is basically saying

Hank to Cam = sideways move

Lets see more than 1 deal get done before we make that assumption.
