Yeah, because if he didn't, Arod would leak his name as part of the Biogenesis scandal...

I kid, I kid...or am I?

Lol, wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I don't care that much about the A-Rod HBP. It helped the Yankees win the game and he was injured by it.

or maybe Ortiz is a good guy like everyone says and knows it was completely an assanine thing to do no matter what the reason was?

Yankees are also now 5-0 since that little experience.

It's going to end up backfiring on them and who knows if the Yankees make the playoffs. They've woken up the beast, only 3.5 gms back now.

Ortiz backs ARod. Thats just covering his butt cause he gets all hissy when he just gets pitched tight. He was or still is just as dirty.
Dempster was just a punk. Gonna hit him or spook him do it with the first pitch. That whole episode was a show. After that HR I wanted ARod to touch home plate pull a Reggie Jackson and punch him right in the mouth.
Screw it. Gonna suspend me. Make a fool of me on the field. I'll make it worth it.
Make that George Brett flip out look like a warm up.

This would be siiiiiiick...

SPECULATION!: Metallica may play at Mariano Rivera tribute night

By Mike Axisa
The Yankees are going to have what figures to be a massive pre-game tribute to Mariano Rivera on September 22nd, celebrating his Hall of Fame career on the final Sunday home game of the season. As it turns out, Metallica will be in New York to play at The Apollo (!?) on September 21st with no scheduled appearances in the following days. A live performance of Enter Sandman sure sounds like something that could happen on Rivera’s tribute night day, but obviously nothing is confirmed. This is probably something the Yankees want to keep under wraps. Anyway, that’s out there now. (h/t NYDN) ·

Harvey is getting roughed up.

Detroit's lineup is God-Tier though. Figures he'd K Fielder but give up a double to Scherzer.
-_-

They're saying Ike Davis has reached based in 34 of his 38 games since being called up. Wow.

Edit: And Harvey is getting shelled right now with hits.

Mets just getting outclassed. I was talking with my neighbor about this upcoming series last weekend.
Deal with it-Learn from it
Tigers are just getting rolling. Doubt theres a team in the AL that can keep them out of the WS again.

Tigers are a very good team and the Mets are a bad team. This is what should be happening.

Honestly, all i'm rooting for is great performances from Harvey, Wheeler, Neise, D'Arnaud, Lagares and Flores the rest of the way, followed by David Wright coming back before the end of September so he can up his war to 6.0 (5.7 bugs me).

Wheeler admitted he was tiring and I wouldn't be surprised if Harvey is as well (his average velocity has been very slowly trending down for a while now.) Get out of this season with no catastrophic injuries and come back next year aiming to go .500 or better.

If Ike can play a full season without some tragic slump that would help a lot.

Mets should seriously consider shutting down Harvey very soon. 135 innings in 2011, 169 in 2012 (59 in majors) and up to 178 this year. Not much to gain but a lot to lose.

How many of you Mets fans think Terry Collins will be fired if the Mets do play like this or just in General? I have been waiting for him to be fired for 3 years

It's not as if Collins has much to work with. The team is in full-on rebuild mode.

I think Collins makes a lot of bad in game decisions, but people also need to recognize that every single manager generally does the same thing. The guys who have the ability to get a baseball team to go out there and pull in the same direction for 162 games plus the post-season, just generally don't seem to have strong tactical minds. History is littered with great managers who were actually pretty terrible in that regard.

The only way to make a smart in-game manager is to build a strong roster, which is something the Mets are still in the process of doing. Look at Joe Torre. He washed out with several teams before landing with the Yankees. His decision making abilities didn't magically get better in 1996. Managers need to be judged on how their teams deal with the daily grind and handle adversity. It's the GM's job to build the talent base.
