I was unaware that any of them leaked the names of fellow players to take the heat off of them.

He must've leaked Dempster's name. No player deserves the treatment A-Rod got yesterday. You don't see pitchers throwing at Ryan Braun. Or Milton Bradley who was one of the biggest ********** going around.

I think you're underselling Gee a bit. He's got a 2.27 ERA in his last 15 starts. He doesn't have the ceiling of an ace, but he might be considered a legitimate number three starter.

I don't think I'm underselling him at all. If anything I think I'm doing to opposite. What he brings to this team is worth more than his value as a trade piece.

The way Dillon Gee is going he could have some serious trade value to get the Mets a big bat in the offseason.

hahahahaha

he's been solid but I think that's a bit of a stretch

None of those guys were leaking players names. Hell, A-Rat leaked a teammates name. That's even worse than just a simple leak. Dude is pure scum. Throw at him every game for all I care.

on pace for another 300/30/100 RBI season.. he should be the only sure thing next year, and among yankee fans, he's one of the biggest question marks because of a long term contract.

Cano annoys me sometimes because he's streaky and when he's bad he's real bad. But when Cano is on his game -and I emphasize "on his game"- I think the only better hitter is Miguel Cabrera.

His "really bad" doesnt seem to last too long at all though, unless you count this year when he had AAAA hitters all around him.

I'm not talking about getting Mike Trout for him. I just think they should do their due diligence in seeing what the market is for him. Some of the pitching is going to get moved for a bat eventually and it's not going to be anyone from the Harvey/Wheeler/Syndergaard group.

I'm sure they. And I'm sure they'll see the best way to maximize his value is to keep him.

What OF are you targeting with Gee as the main or a main piece?

no one.

if we want a young impact guy, we will need to include one of the big names in that discussion or it doesnt happen. not sure any of us can wrap our heads around moving any of these young stud arms.

this team is hitting better and scoring runs right now without david wrights bat in the lineup. with the addition of flores- assuming he has a position to play and lagares and now d'rno and another year of marlon byrd, we need one more bat and we can compete.

ive been a mets fan for ever and im getting the sense that things are tipping now.

this team isnt far off.

I'm not necessarily even targeting an outfielder. My preference for the outfield is to sign Ellsbury and Choo. I'd be looking to deal him in a package for a slugger capable of putting up a .270/.350/.500 line, whether that guy is an outfielder or a first basemen is irrelevant to me. It also depends on the kind of money they want to spend. If they're willing to really open up the checkbook, then they could go out and gamble on Abreu too.

A .270/.350/.500 OF is about Justin Upton/Nelson Cruz/Curtis Granderson. Not getting one of those (that are signed) for Gee

Yankees win both games of the DH.. Maybe they can actually make a run... we'll see.. Hughes actually had a solid game.

He is a scum and I'm not denying that. Deliberately throwing at someone (which is what Dempster did) is an intent to injure. There is no place for that in the game. You wanna punish A-Rod? Suspend him for as long as possible and banish him from the game.

If Sabathia or any other Yankees pitcher deliberately threw at Ortiz for the same reason as Dempster did, as a Yankees fan I'd be embarrassed. Girardi was right. It's bush league ****.

Yea, nice to see them play meaningful games with a competent lineup. They moved everyone back a day since at some point this week they will need a 6th starter with the doubleheader. Rotation for the rest of the week is Warren and Andy vs the Jays, then Kuroda, CC, and I would imagine Nova over Hughes on Sunday in Tampa.

You're dancing around my question. Take the player you described (OF or not): tell what player (a name) you think the Mets can get with Gee as the main piece or a main piece?

Yup. There's only 21 players (all positions) right now that are slugging over .500. Gee wont land you that player unless you package another significant piece with him.

Personally I think Montero, Fulmer, Mejia or Familia most likely getting moved for a bat or two this offseason.

Rotation in a year or two would be Harvey, Wheeler,Syndergaard, Niese and Gee.

They need to keep Niese because you need at least one lefty in the rotation. I am also very high on Matz but he is at least two years away from seeing any time. Next year for him should be A+ with maybe a late season call up to AA. Then in 2015 it should be AA and maybe move up to AAA. 2016 is when I think he would be a mid season call up to MLB.

As for FA hitters, I would just try to get Ellsbury this year. The next move I would make would be to trade some of the arms mentioned for a SS which is a HUGE need for us.

Maybe one or two of them for that highly rated SS prospect in the Red Sox orginazation that I can't remember the name of. Or maybe for Sterlin Castro?

That would give you a potential starting lineup of

C- D'Arnaud
1b - Davis (there really isn't any available substitutes yet) maybe Flores
2b - Murphy
SS - Castro (or Red Sox prospect)
3b - Wright
Lf - Ellsbury
CF - Lagares (his defense is ridiculous)
Rf - ???? not sure here. Maybe Duda in Lf and Ellsbury in RF. Maybe another trade? Eric Young Jr.?

Rotation of: Harvey, Wheeler, Niese, Gee, cheap signing or Mejia if he isn't traded.

Mets are going to be good next year, but it really is 2015 when they should be a serious threat.

Good luck prying Bogaerts away from Sox. Top-4 prospect in baseball.

I can see Cubs souring on Castro. Lots of tools but no toolbox.

While a guy like Ellsbury could and most likely will get pricey (Boras client) he'd serve 2 purposes for Mets. Gives them a CF they lack and also a legit lead off hitter.
