Why is it facetious to ask someone for an explanation on something when that person makes a definitive statement?
Dont be flippantYeah, I certainly thought it required an explanation. The poster claimed that official NHL hits "are simply and often barely incidental contact."
This is an absurd claim. All you have to do is simply watch an NHL game and keep track of how many "hits" you think you see and then look at the stats after the game and see how close you are.
If you were tracking "incidental contact" the leaders in NHL hits would be deep into the thousands and thousands at this point in the season. The claim is wild and I would love to do know how he arrived at it. Nylander has 19 hits this year. This guy is claiming that William Nylander has had incidental contact with the opposition less than twenty times this season?
This is just silly.
Because he already knew the answer so it wasn't a genuine question. He was just calling out the other poster who was confused on some of the details.

It was a lame joke from meI didn't already know the answer. I still don't know the answer.
How he has arrived at his idea for what an NHL hit is is totally beyond me and that's why I asked.
I don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about.
It was a lame joke from me
Agreed with evwrythimg you said which is reasonable - hence the stupid joke
And i skip steps easily.. we should have had a couple back and forths before i went right for the joke.. i came on too strongI confuse easily.
"Often barely incidental contact" or otherwise, why would you think that it happening more to one player than another isn't relevant to how much they do or don't avoid it?I happen to think the vast majority of “hits” are simply, and often barely, incidental contact in todays NHL.
If you call that illogical to make yourself feel better, you’re welcome to your opinion.
That's a good thing here, when you do get worried.I don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about.
And i skip steps easily.. we should have had a couple back and forths before i went right for the joke.. i came on too strong
So my Hits CountI guess we can say you're a "heavy hitter".
Unlike the Leafs.
"Often barely incidental contact" or otherwise, why would you think that it happening more to one player than another isn't relevant to how much they do or don't avoid it?
Dismissing it just because it doesn't fit your definition or narrative isn't logical.
They are all playing the flute …. the only guitar player we have is KniesThe mix is just not right. Like a band, you need a lead singer, drummer, keys, guitar, bass… but instead of a band, we have everyone playing the guitars.
You said the stat wasn't relevant - I was just asking why.You tried to put that statement into my mouth, I literally never said that.
I did say using hits taken as evidence for your argument is dumb, and I do very much question what the counters call a hit these days too.
In any case, I really don’t care if people want to pretend that Nylander isn’t as soft as they come, have at it.
Watch last year's playoff game where Marner gets punched in the face by Tkatchuk. Reilly gets flattened right at the game ending buzzer, sparking leaf players to rush the panther player. Nobody had a better view of Reilly getting crushed than Marner did, yet Marner attempts to casually skate by the brawl but inadvertently runs into Tkachuk who literally pushes Marner into the action and then proceeds to punch Marner in the face.
That's a guy with an A!
Softest player I've ever seen play. Even Kessel stood up for himself occasionally.Marner is scared out there.
There is no other way to put it. You can go back to last year's scrum or any of his 5 over the glass playoff penalties. He looks scared to the point it's uncomfortable to watch and I'm not on the bench with Marner (guy that's supposed to have your back)...
Ten Reaves can't offset what it does to team morale to have one Marner being scared out there for 30 min a game.
Nylander is easily the softest guy on the team, possibly the whole league. Take the good with the bad with him.You tried to put that statement into my mouth, I literally never said that.

Nylander's tough as nails compared to Marner, especially when it comes to mental toughness. You won't catch him crying in the penalty box or anywhere else for that matter, not when there's a game being played, never mind a playoff game.Nylander is easily the softest guy on the team, possibly the whole league. Take the good with the bad with him.

Everyone’s viewpoints are biased.Your biased viewpoints are overflowing your chalice cup.

Are you referring to Nylander? I have no problem with him, he is who he is.Yep. especially on a forty five degree angle.
You just dump on him endlessly at least I can give credit where it is due but you just crap endlessly it is almost an obsession.
Goodnight Papa Marner..
