What’s happening here…
A massive hangover is what is happening with me .. got to jump in shower and then back to beantown for game 2 .. glg .. i think what you will hear after playoffs is mitch was cleared by docs that he would not do any more damage to his ankle but it was not fully healed and he still has pain in area but decided to play through it .. this from one of my sons who played spring hockey with mitch for many years (i coached team for a couple of them) .. i saw paul and bonnie at game 1 from afar but did not say hi .. maybe i will tonight if they are at game 2

I like the hit, however outside of that hes entirely on the perimeter this entire shift. Most teams are gonna he happy if they are keeping an opponent in those regions of the ice. In fact it's many teams game plans. I don't see much in terms of quality opportunities here. It's what myself and others have discussed, he's desperately trying to make things happens from the perimeter of the ice.

I posted this in another thread, but maybe it's best to post it here.

I think the problem is that all of this is nice but the playoff actual production versus the GF% or actual goals tells me investing much more beyond what he's already making is pretty foolish.

I don't think having 2 wingers pulling over 11M is a good idea.

Through 4 periods, Marner may as well be someone who just learned how to play hockey. It's not a surprise JT's game falls of a cliff when he has Mitch beside him.

That Domi goal doesn't happen if Marner is on that line. No way Marner is anywhere near the slot where both Matthews wingers, Bertuzzi and Domi, were battling and eventually scored.

What an absolute coward this guy is, he doesn't deserve a cent more than he makes now, and arguably should get less on the next contract. Ideally, he is traded somewhere if possible .Watching him fly by all night long, get bounced off like a fly at any contact, and shoot muffins like he was out for a leisure skate made me f***ing sick. I have never seen this kid go between the dots in the playoffs, EVER. Even guys like Robertson and Jarnkrok were working their asses off and generating more in the O zone. f*** this guy

Yeah anyone who said Matthews needed Marner should go get their heads checked ASAP.

Marner has to be the odd man out. Trade him and if he doesn't want to waive his NMC, let him walk and use the 12M in cap space to get two good 6M players.
Exactly. Cap space is the most valuable asset a team has. Imagine shedding that massive contract plus Brodie who I felt Brad, being from Calgary, tried to trade at the deadline also.

Brad can prove his chops with that much coin at his disposal.

As I said with his pickups, outside of Klinberg which made no sense to me, he has been getting the right "types". These types, win Cups as they do the tough job. To quote Jack Nicholson "you need me on that wall" :)

I’d go nylander over knies on that line to see if that can get them going 5v5

I think we need to see Marner + Nylander in some capacity

Agreed. Frustrating most of the game, made some important clears late. Need more Mitch.
I believe he will break out, and he does need to be better, but if they can continue to make life tough for Pasta and get out of this round even if he picks up only a couple points, it will be a good series for him
