im not deflecting anything, i think marner is playing very bad and have said as much. the point remains the same, its not all on marner, if one 11 million dollar star is allowed to get called out for not producing, the other 11 million dollar players should be scrutinized equally. name calling doesnt make you right.
i mean, the same could be said if that player is marner no? do you honestly think marner just isnt trying? cmon man.
because one has a thread thats in part 3 now, the other doesnt. 3 points vs one in 6 games isnt the difference between one player producing and the other not, its not like JT has been noticeable in a good way in any game like willy has, his one goal was an own goal by sj lol.

jeezuz, this has nothing to do with marner. ive only defended the fact that hes not the only player playing badly. people here just pick players they hate and put the blinders on.

The irony is that you don't realize that I'm a Marner fan. Well, used to be. I usually don't get mad at Leafs losing but the amount of frustration I have watching Marner has been very surprising. Likely because I'm beyond disappointed in how much I invested in him.
Honestly he'd be the darling if he didn't demand the moon in negotiations then crumble under the pressure.
Note that I said professional. NOT superstar. You can do poorly as a professional, but Marner has achieved far below that level this season.
sure man, me too. i even put together a trade proposal for him in the offseason and he was my favorite leaf. hes clearly frustrated and playing terrible. ive never said otherwise. but its not just him is my point. we need to expect more from ALL of our "best players". as josh donaldson once famously said "this is the try hard league, its the get it done league" and nobody is getting it done.
blaming a player for signing a contract that a team agreed to is completely unfair, the leafs didnt have to agree to that if they didnt believe he was and would be worth that deal going forward.
Maybe don't overreach and try to market yourself as Patrick Kane or Doug Gilmour?
