Continues to play like he has under Keefe he's got a shot

I'd expect some regression from the whole team 5v5 but he's in a possession based system with elite shooting talent around him and he's going to get his minutes so here's hoping

The Leafs stars seem like they have more flexibility to just do their thing under Keefe. Which looks like a recipe for them to put up some substantial offense

I can see him riding his horses harder as well, if were down in the 3rd that Hyman Matthew's Marner line is going over the boards every 2nd shift

That's how you pick up big multi point games like today

At this pace he might top 100 points this season.
That would be pretty extraordinary.
It is interesting though to look at a player like Patrick Kane who was an oft-cited comparable @ around 9.3MM...cap adjusted.. His first RFA year, he only played 73 games and scored 73 points. Marner needs to play around as well as his second year for the remaining year to reach that number with 1 less game. The thing is that it doesn't look like Marner is regressing.

His second goal tonight, the GWG, was something out of a video game when your in the Be A Pro mode (or whatever it's called now) and you're a winger that just jumps the face-off draw

I think one of the TSN guys made a good point about Keefe. His first job was have the team play through their strengths which is offense, and then dial in the defensive play as we go on. Today was a bit of a regression defensively, but I felt the team was slowly but steadily improving.

All anyone should look at is our record with Marner and without him. He is our most important skater.

The hate on marner during the summer was unreal! Posters were losing their minds.

Without mitch we had 4 wins and 8 loses. With him back we have been on a roll!

According to a user on /r/hockey, Marner has been on a 155 point pace since Keefe took over. :amazed:

Worth every penny and then some.

Marner has a 1.3 ppg (9th in the league and highest on the team) which over an 82 game season would be 106 points. Since keefe took over, he has 17 points in 9 games. Over 82 games that would equal 155 points.

Such a skilled player. Reminds me of the magic man, pavel datsyuk.

Boy wouldn’t your boy Kessel like this version and style

Well, actually, the Leafs played this style under Wilson, believe it or not.Wilsons teams were all speed, compete and puck possession.... only problem was his rosters were meh to horrific. Funny enough, I think Kessel would thrive here in a sheltered role, plus he's elite come playoff time.

We're leaning into our strengths much harder under Keefe but I think we're always going to struggle defensively with this defensive core

Holl is on our shutdown pair and while I love Barrie and Rielly offensively they aren't strong players in their own end

That's a bit of an issue
