Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Perry's primary linemates are McDavid and Draisaitl... I am sure he'd be producing the same here on the 4th line.
Yeah, probably will be producing as much as Marner here... :sarcasm:

Perry is literally not afraid to be around the front of the opposition's net, where he scores many of his goals.

Except that there reportedly was an offer after the 23-24 season.
They couldn’t offer then, at least nothing that could get signed until July 1.

The Leafs dodged a bullet and have a chance to recover in a couple of years versus being stuck in no mans land for the next decade. I’m doubtful they do anything with the opportunity, but at least there’s some hope.

They wouldn’t go to the net without a reservation and valet parking.
Why go to the net when you could just float around the perimeter? Let someone else do it...even the refs see more net front action when they are blowing the play dead after the goalie smothers the puck...

Sure they could. Just couldn't officially sign until July 1.

Treliving was willing to give him 13.5 based on reporting... so there is at least one GM you think is dumber than Dubas.
That was reported, more than likely Shanahan's doing, and not only has Tre not signed him, but has tried to trade him.

And if he signs him for 13.5, then yes.

You asked the wrong question.

Since 20-21 we’re 15th and under 80% kill rate, there’s a couple runs in there in the 50s. But yeah neither special team is good in the playoffs, I don’t think short handed ice time is a worthwhile gotcha when the other guys on the scoring list are far ahead at ES scoring.

Numbers aside, there hasn’t been a single season with Mitch in charge of either unit that I feel remotely confident about them holding a lead or tying it up late in the third. There’s a sense of panic and inevitability of something going comically wrong.

Mitch mightve had a better overall year than Matthews this season including the playoffs. Both of them are clearly good, but not good enough. If we didn't have this stupid hard cap that made us turn on our own players it'd be another thing, but unfortunately here we are and we need a shakeup in the worst way. Now I just hope we don't blow the 11M on the wrong players. Again, using a chunk of it to lock up Knies to 8 years has got to be priority #1. That is a better outcome than any of the UFAs

Yea, good on Tre and I think he's got more autonomy now with Shanahan gone.

Now that we have yet another year to add to the sample size of #16's playoff performance, I think the leafs should offer him $3-4million tops. If you contribute like a 3rd or 4th liner, you will get paid like one. Of course, Marner and his agent will likely get butthurt at the number as it feels like a middle finger from the team, but this is business. If you don't produce like a superstar in the playoffs, you don't get paid like one.

Don't like it? Leave.

This is a great idea however I’m am very fair minded so I would go to 5 mill tops

Marner to Florida rumor is a great one. He would be even better in Florida, protected by players and fans. He is a great skilled player...who can play...but CANNOT lead.
Marner has skill to perform but has not developed the heart, maybe when he sees heart he might. Maybe a coach that puts him on a bench until he does would help.
There is a significant difference between bitching to the referee and whining to a ref. Players know it, fans know it.
Would Marners attitude get him the type of call Gretzky got with Dougie?
His other leading men in Toronto are just like him, AM, Reilly, WN. Put him with Tkachuk, Barkov, Marchand, maybe Bennett, maybe Marner becomes a man. It would be fun.

I'm a huge marner supporter, always been. But if he walks, he should never be considered for jersey retirement. Burn any reference to him. The team has given him everything and yes some fans are POs but they are everywhere we just have more of em.

LA would be a great fit for him IMO. A Kopitar - Marner line would be pretty good even at Kopitar’s age.

Why would he leave a team that barely makes it out of the first round for a team that never does? Do you see la beating Edmonton?

Kopitar is 38. Doughty is 35. They don’t really have a core of youth.

Even if by field Is a C he is 23 and is a 20g 50 pt player.

I don’t see them having a core. Moving a baby across the continent to a high tax market to play on a worse team with a worse future.

I agreed with you before. Now I look at it and I just don’t see where he goes.

Does this apply to matthews too because he had a scshitty
Regular season and playoffs. Don’t give me the old he was hurt. His injury didn’t stop him from making the 4 nations cup a priority.
