Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Really wish management would confirm they are moving on. That way no Marner agent using the Leafs to drive up the price (using us anyway) or any speculation from all these media people. They just live to use things like, Marner wants to stay but he’s been offered 14 million from team X you know. Jeez, the Leafs will need to beat that to keep him. I’m sick of hearing that.
No need to wait until July 1st. Cut ties now.

Why wouldn't you want other teams to pay more?

Perry wanted to be a Leaf, but Dubas turned him down.
I doubt players like Marchand, Tkachuk, Perry, Kane would have ever lasted in Toronto. The puritans in this city would have been screaming to trade them. We had a player like that in Kadri but he was too much man for a fanbase that doesn't like the after the whistle scrums and playing on the edge. This current leafs team is perfect for this fanbase and hockey media. Lets run it back.

Perry's primary linemates are McDavid and Draisaitl... I am sure he'd be producing the same here on the 4th line.
Yeah, probably will be producing as much as Marner here... :sarcasm:

Perry is literally not afraid to be around the front of the opposition's net, where he scores many of his goals.

Except that there reportedly was an offer after the 23-24 season.
They couldn’t offer then, at least nothing that could get signed until July 1.

The Leafs dodged a bullet and have a chance to recover in a couple of years versus being stuck in no mans land for the next decade. I’m doubtful they do anything with the opportunity, but at least there’s some hope.

They wouldn’t go to the net without a reservation and valet parking.
Why go to the net when you could just float around the perimeter? Let someone else do it...even the refs see more net front action when they are blowing the play dead after the goalie smothers the puck...

Sure they could. Just couldn't officially sign until July 1.

True - if someone other than Dubas is dumb enough to give him 11, let them find out the same way we did.

Treliving was willing to give him 13.5 based on reporting... so there is at least one GM you think is dumber than Dubas.
