Ex Players should never be in charge of a teams purse because a player will almost always have a sympathy for players and the NHLPA. A GM absolutely but in a model where there is a President above him to deal with major cap decisions.

Treliving is a candidate for both GM and President which is all Toronto should have. So much organizational bloat.

No GM is paying a second paring dman what Marner thinks he is worth. This guy did not take Leafs offer of almost 50% more money than what Makar is making. Let that sink in.

Happens sometimes when you take a "pretty good" talent and give them top minutes for years at a time. They want to be paid based on their role rather than their skillset.

A team on te rebuild would be the best for him. He's an exciting regular season performer and he could certainly help a team trying to just make the playoffs. Would be insanity for a contender adding him hoping he would push them to the Cup. Hope he goes to Vegas or Carolina. He could destroy them. On the other hand, I always thouht Colunbus would be perfect for him. He would be a replacement for Johnny Hockey. He would be an exciting regular season player for the fans and certainly help get them into the playoffs.

I think so too. But I can also see a guy like him getting cold feet the closer things get to the reality of leaving.

Sam Bennett making $4.425 mil has as many goals 13 in this current season alone than Marner in 3 years X ELC + 6 years @ $10.9 mil. So over the course of 9 playoff season Magic Mitch has 13 measly goals total,

That doesn't even put Marner in the top 100 playoff goals scorers during those past 9 years combined.

Really wish management would confirm they are moving on. That way no Marner agent using the Leafs to drive up the price (using us anyway) or any speculation from all these media people. They just live to use things like, Marner wants to stay but he’s been offered 14 million from team X you know. Jeez, the Leafs will need to beat that to keep him. I’m sick of hearing that.
