I heard on either a radio show or podcast that he was never given a written offer. Maybe there were some discussions but thankfully it never got serious enough to start putting it on paper.

that really doesn't mean much , Seravalli posted a tweet a few hours before Guadreau signed with Columbus that he heard a rumor the Jackets had offered Johnny Hockey 12m x 7yrs , probably thought there was no way he'd sign there since the rumor was he wanted to play close to home and no one goes there so he thought it was safe to make up a huge number to get some clicks

No GM is paying a second paring dman what Marner thinks he is worth. This guy did not take Leafs offer of almost 50% more money than what Makar is making. Let that sink in.

Happens sometimes when you take a "pretty good" talent and give them top minutes for years at a time. They want to be paid based on their role rather than their skillset.

A team on te rebuild would be the best for him. He's an exciting regular season performer and he could certainly help a team trying to just make the playoffs. Would be insanity for a contender adding him hoping he would push them to the Cup. Hope he goes to Vegas or Carolina. He could destroy them. On the other hand, I always thouht Colunbus would be perfect for him. He would be a replacement for Johnny Hockey. He would be an exciting regular season player for the fans and certainly help get them into the playoffs.

I think so too. But I can also see a guy like him getting cold feet the closer things get to the reality of leaving.

Sam Bennett making $4.425 mil has as many goals 13 in this current season alone than Marner in 3 years X ELC + 6 years @ $10.9 mil. So over the course of 9 playoff season Magic Mitch has 13 measly goals total,

That doesn't even put Marner in the top 100 playoff goals scorers during those past 9 years combined.

Let that sink in,

Bennett has the same PPG as Marner this year and is 0.18 lower over his career...

But I am shocked that a pass-first player doesn't have a lot of goals.

Perry's primary linemates are McDavid and Draisaitl... I am sure he'd be producing the same here on the 4th line.

Really wish management would confirm they are moving on. That way no Marner agent using the Leafs to drive up the price (using us anyway) or any speculation from all these media people. I doubt players like Marchand, Tkachuk, Perry, Kane would have ever lasted in Toronto. The puritans in this city would have been screaming to trade them. We had a player like that in Kadri but he was too much man for a fanbase that doesn't like the after the whistle scrums and playing on the edge. This current leafs team is perfect for this fanbase and hockey media. Lets run it back.
