Leafs Home Board
nice old school dis !

Forget his limited points, he cries on the bench, how demoralizing it is for his team... I mean playoff hockey sucks for everyone.. You don't think Pasta would prefer scoring between legs instead of eating hits and fighting Tkachuk ?

It's like that one work buddy that b*tch and moans so much it's harder for everyone.
Well the Leafs have a new CEO now and fortunately for those diehard Leaf fans that HATE losing constantly believe that change is coming to the core 4 and Shanahan has been given new marching orders which hopefully our GM will be able to execute this summer.

Doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

Players come and go all the time but the Maple Leaf lives forever, so people getting too attached to certain players at the expense of the team will eventually have to come to terms with change when its done with the intent of changing losing into winning formula.,

Mitch Marner's security detail has become very active on Instagram, defending him while making questionable comments about his teammates, leading some to believe that Marner may finally want out.

During the season, while recovering from his ankle sprain, Marner made some comments towards the members of the Toronto media that were not received all that well and they seemed to be the beginning of a feud taking place behind the scenes. Marner did not speak after the Leafs Game 7 loss to the Boston Bruins and made only a brief appearance at Monday's end of season interviews.

Recently, The Athletic's James Mirtle revealed that Marner hired private security and has only granted permission to certain reporters to speak to him. Mirtle also claimed that Marner's security detail has made it a point to try to intimidate certain members of the media in Toronto.

It appears that things have escalated as his private security «Rocket Security» is now going to battle online to defend his honour on Instagram comment sections. Not only that, but the account has also called out some of Marner's own teammates.

Maybe some of his private security also posted here, lol.

I'm hesitant to believe Marners offensive failures would translate to all 4 Series in a year we win the cup. He would for sure tear at least 2 Series up if we went that far. When he does suck we can still push 7 games and grind it out to the last second.

For context, Brayden Point had zero points in the last 4 games against the Habs in their Cup win. 2 of the games featured 0 shots. It happens.

Don't know if I can jump on the trade bandwagon with everyone. Feels safer to fix holes around the 3 amigos
You are sure he would tear up at least two of four series, based on the fact that to date he was able to tear up zero of eight series?

Well if he wants out. From his perspective he is better off waiting a year. Then going to a team at no cost to them. The same as what JT did.

The team sucks in the playoffs. Which current player has the most career Leaf playoff points? Fans don’t want him, Ripley’s believe it or not. lol!
Of the four current Leafs forwards who have played more than 30 playoff games here, he is third in points/60 and fourth in goals/60 at even strength.

This year he was fifth in both categories. Except for collecting several points in a couple of early blowout games last year, and on the PP previous years, he's been mediocre at best.

There's a fan of his (rather than the team) who quotes one stat with no context as the only reason to keep him. Ripley's believe it or not. salts

Anyone calling EP a marner in the playoffs is wrong.

EP has made the playoffs twice. His first one years back he did great (better than any Marner playoffs), but this playoffs he's done hardly anything.

Marner has made the playoffs 8 times and has done bad in 5 of them. He's also tracked as a disappearing act in games 5-7 which count the most.

EP made it to the conf finals in his first playoffs and played 17 games going 7g-11a-18pts
I would trade Marner for EP. Would be cheeper, and probably with a higher playoff upside in two years. Being a C helps to. And would help as much or almost as much in the regular season.

Yeah I can't get over Marner being more expensive than basically every player in the NHL. It's overkill before his raise

Emma Lingan made some good points on ‘Locked on Preds’ about why she believes Marner is not a good fit in Nashville. Basically one year of Saros is better than one yr of Marner, 11+ goes against Trotz’s philosophy and you’d have to give up too many assets to obtain him when the Preds are not in win now mode. Also said Trotz and Burnette are trying to build a culture, didn’t say that Marner is a bad character but just not a good fit at this time.

Hahaha if you think so there is no changing your mind. I’ve read too many posts.

Anyway, you can believe this, if Marner wasn’t a Leaf I’d only be watching him when he is playing against us. No different than McDavid or even Gretzky for that matter.

If you aren’t a Maple Leaf you only can fail once before you’re a bust.
If you are a Leaf you and/or the team get about 7-10 times.
That being said, Marner isn’t unique, EP will have to show at some point he can figure it out or hard choices will need to happen there too.

There's that word again 🤣
Gotta hate the player if you think the team would be more successful using their cap hit elsewhere. Do you need to hate your coworker if you would rather not work on a project with them? Or hate your husband/wife because you'd rather do chores without them? If you took more money to work for a new firm, does that mean you hate everyone in management in your current company? Lol

Is this a one way hate rule? Had Marner taken an offersheet from Columbus in 2019... would that have meant he hated Leaf fans and the Toronto Maple Leaf Organization?

You’ve got it completely backwards.
Those with the irrational hate don’t care about the team.
Wrong

Well that is the other point of view. Mgmt obviously thought Keefe was the problem or they wouldn’t have fired him. I’m not in the fire everybody camp, I think the players will do much better under new systems. Much like many have once they moved on.
So you’re ok running the whole steaming mess back again under coach number 3 and about 12 different assistant coaches. Interesting

If that narrative gets out it will be a long season for him with lots of crying on bench and Willy yelling at him

There is no way Marner agrees to play for Torts

I don't agree that Nashville is not in a win now mode. They have aging core players like Josi and Forsberg with term who wants to win, and signed O'Reilly and Schenn end of last season. How did Trotz convince both O'Reilly and Schenn to sign there if they are not in a win now mode? They are certainly not rebuilding.

Marner is a nice fit in Nashville.

Every summer there are a dozen or more UFA’s, they all let their contracts expire. It’s no big taboo and William sat home for 1/2 a season. Lol

Assuming something attractive about taxes, that was the best contract Luke Schenn has had offered to him since 2015.

Imagine him staying and making Leafs pay. That would be the pinnacle of the whole “core” story. His agent is a ruthless pro and will derail any plans that the organization might have.
