I'd be fine with Saros and the extra cap space tbh. If Saros has a good year and they extend him longer term he would still be cheaper than Marner's current contract.

You're likely looking at Saros + 2nd pairing Dman through free agency (cap space).

Look at the games and the series they happened in. If you dig deep you see bulk scoring to blowout games and piss poor performance in critical games and times.

Getting rid of Marner and solving the goalie carousel problem in the same deal would be a dream come true. Love to get Askarov but Saros is more likely.

I’ve watched Askarov a few times in international play and he’s struggled at times and others he’s been brilliant. Saros has been very good, but he’s going to be at the end of his time if and when the Preds are ready to compete again so I’d rather they trade him and keep Askarov.

I rather role the dice on a cheap goalie tandem than pay Saros $7-8 mill on a long term deal. I don’t see him as a goalie that is going to be elite for a long time.

Well that is the other point of view. Mgmt obviously thought Keefe was the problem or they wouldn’t have fired him. I’m not in the fire everybody camp, I think the players will do much better under new systems. Much like many have once they moved on.
