16 and 34 could not score 5 v 5 or 5 v 4. Marner with 65 and 47 is a waste of Marner who needs goal scorers to be effective.

Maybe not Soup or Engvall but what about Robertson and Spezza? The other is that 11mil players should make others better. Brown, Kap, Hyman, and AJ were all 20 goals scorers playing with AM. JT made a few grinders into top 6 wingers. Why can’t Marner do the same?

... I remember being super excited when Christian Hanson got an assist in his first professional game.... then I saw the replay and realized he had the puck in the defensive zone and Phil Kessel pretty much stole it from him and went end to end and scored.

But i digress.... has anyone's goal totals been spiked by playing with Marner? We don't know.... but we do know that both Tavares and Matthews were goal scoring machines without Marner. The best passers in the game blow up their linemates stats... like Joe Thornton, see Jonathon cheechoo and devon setoguchi....

We should be able to put 11 million dollar Marner on a line next year with Robertson and Robertson should scored 30 goals.... if Marner is worth his salt.

His last 2 centres have won the Rocket and had a career high year in goals playing with Marner.

The only time he hasn't produced is in the playoffs with Matthews under Keefe. (his role was different in 2019)

I see your point, and I don’t think he should get a pass either. I don’t give players passes and both big boys didn’t shown up. I just think trading Marner makes more sense as the media and fans have turned on him more than they have on Matthews. Is it justified? To an extent, but the hate one gets compared to the other is ludicrously different, apart from the basic arguments such as playmaker vs goal scorer and winger vs Center; I also think it’s better to move on from Marner than Matthews, it’s gonna be hard for Marner to win back the fans like he had before the signing, and that has a chance at. He is mocking the Leaf fans by doing this. No real fan wants to see him on the beach. They want to see him on the ice battling for the Cup. It just demonstrates how little respect he has for the fans, the team and himself. He's a self-centered punk.
